It took me a while to try these but they sure do catch the fish so what i'm wondering is if there is a style of hook that is better than others??

I like a #1 EWG Gamagatzu. Others seem to like using a 1/0 circle or octopus hook.

If texas rigging I like a 2/0 or 3/0 EWG. If wacky rigging I use smaller hooks like a 1/0 or smaller.

I use a 2/0 Gamakatsu offset worm hook for t-rigging, and a #2 Gamakatsu octopus for wacky rigging for both 4" and 5" senkos, and I've been very pleased with the results.

3/0 EWG for T-rigging, 1/0 Octopus (with an O-ring) for wacky. Never had a problem hooking up with bigger hooks... caught a 7" rock bass on a 6" Senko wacky rigged with the 1/0 Octo. Bigger is better.

wk: If you like senko's, try a 6" alewife Slug-Go!!!!!!!
For my senko's though, I use a 3/0 EWG for Texas rigging. For wacky rig, I use a #2 Eagle Claw L42.
I don't fish them too much though becuase the Slug-go's are far more superior IMO. Be careful about hook size about hook size with a Slug-Go though....the rep says any 4/0 OWH will do but it's not true. You need like a 5/0 or 6/0. I strictly use Lunker City's 4/0 OWH now with 6" Slug-go's.

Hey guy's thank's for the replys,
I have been using red 1/0 or 2/0 worm hooks and seem to be doing pretty well with them but wondered if I could do any better with another type of hook.
With the shorter shank wide gap hooks is there quite a bit of line wear from the fish?, most of the fish I catch still have a little of the shank sticking out of there mouth.
So whats the opinion on hook color, red, gold, black?

If you are using mono always check you line after a fish. If you feel some wear, cut off and retie.

Where I fish, the rocks kill the line more than the fish. I check constantly, but especially after a fish.
As for color, I lean towards red.
