Rifle River This Weekend

I'm heading up to the Rifle this weekend and will be fishing in the early AM on Saturday and maybe Sunday in the M-55 vicinity. I'm trying to get my cousin or my uncle to go with me, but I'm getting little response.

Anyone going to be in the area that would like to buddy up?

It was gorgeous. I'll post pics when my cousin sends them. The view, however, was better than the fishing.

We fished Saturday and Sunday (5am - 9am both days). On Saturday, I caught a 9" rainbow and he caught a 10" brownie. Other than that, we just caught dozens of chubs.

We decided to move upstream on Sunday in hopes of better luck. It went the other way. I caught two tiny chubs and he caught one. He had something (big chub or little trout) following his spinner in one hole, but neither of us could hook him.

Again...I was able to spend two beautiful mornings on a gorgeous river. Fish or not, I had a great weekend.

You need to get way up stream on that system this time of year. Look at a map. Thats all I'll say.
