Alright I have to warn you that this will be a very stupid question.

The other day I bought a rig that has a sinker attached to the end, with a fake grub/work about a foot up the line.

Now the hook is rigged like a texas or carolina rig to where the point is hidden in the body to make it weedless.

Now the stupid question: How does the hook set if it is inside the worm? I think the strike is supposed to set it off but I'm not sure.

Also, how would you think that rig should be fished? I figured either castit and slowly retrieve, or cast it, let it sit for a few seconds, then reel a few times, let it sit etc.

Thanks for your thoughts gentleman.

Sounds liike a drop shot rig. Most people drop shot directly under the boat although you can cast and reel in slowly..........

When a fish bites down on a bait that is texas rigged, the hook pops out for the hook set. Your description does sound like a pre-rigged drop shot and they are usually fished vertical with the sinker keeping contact with the bottom.
