Hi all,

I need some suggustions. My group of friends is looking to go camping over Labor Day weekend. We have sites reserved at S Higgins lake but I'm worried that a couple of my friends have a tendancy to get a little too loud a little too late. I don't want to get kicked out and ruin the weekend.

Does anyone have any suggustions for a campground within three hours or so of Lansing that might be a little more lenient about these things? I know that reserving a spot this late in the game might be difficult, but I would like to try. A couple of use have pop-ups that we will be using.

Thanks in advance!!

Jeff

i would suggest a state forest campground, or get a permit and camp on state land.

You will get kicked out of S. higgins lake state park or any other state park if you continue to be loud after 11:00pm. It happened to me about 20 years ago.

The problem with a big group of people drinking is even if your trying to be quiet, people tend to talk over people which can get loud even when your trying not too.

Good luck, ive been there

If you think they will be loud, you will not want to go to a private camp ground, you will be gone in no time.

You may want to look at a state rustic camp ground there is usually no park keeper there 24-7 like at the big modern state park camp grounds like Higgins.

Check out some of the campgrounds around Siver Lake, Holidays are pretty crazy in that area and all the campgrounds are pretty load around there. Just stay away from the State Campgrounds.

I've stayed at Proud Lake a couple times and every time, it's been loud. I think your friends may blend in well there. Heck, they may even be the quiet ones.

It looks like the group has decided on a campground on Clear Lake. I'm not sure of the name but it is out of my hands now.

Thanks for all of the replies. I guess that I'll plan on heading back to MY site if things start getting out of hand. I'll let you know how it goes.

Maybe try your back yard. Why expect to go camping and screw up other peoples weekend-happens every weekend somewhere.

Why do think that I was asking for suggestions...because I didn't want to screw up our weekend by screwing up other peoples.

I grew up camping with my family and I was taught to respect the people and families camping around us. Unfortunatly I have friends who did not get this advise growing up. I'm looking for suggestions so the weekend goes smoothly. I think that the other people who replies to this thread understood that.
