Well, it seems like I will need to bite the bullet and purchase a new A/C unit. I have a 1,500 sq ft brick ranch, so I will go with a 2.5 ton. Can anybody here do the job or recommend somebody that is decently priced and reliable? I live in Troy. Also, any buying tips would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Robert

In the same boat as romayer. Put on a new addition at about 1600 sq. ft. Looking for a full package. Im in Shelby Twp. Maybe some one can recommend a good source. Would be nice if the same outfit did both and cut us a deal.;)

Hello,

Just read your post. Look up Scottski. He does an exceptional job. I will say that he is the most anal retentive HVAC guy I know. His work is very neat. He is located in Westland. Tell him Dennis sent you.

I emailed Scottski. It would be nice to get a BOGO deal, we live in the same area, coming from Westland ;)

I am finding my self in the same boat as you gusy,,, want to get AC. The house is in Shelby Twp and just wondering if we can still get a combo deal with someone or if you had any luck finding someone that did a good job at a fair price. Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Try Scott Wilczhewski Heating and Cooling. He is a member of this forum (Scottski). Very neat and honest. He will not sell you a cheap unit though. So, if you are looking for a cheap quality unit, don't call him.

I have used Josh from Brothers Heating and Cooling for A/C units on about 6 houses and I have always been happy with them, especially his prices. His direct cell number is 586-709-1365. He is located in Mt. Clemens.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I have have calls and left messages for those indicated in this thread. The suggestions are very helpful to me as the yahoo list of local companies is pages and pages long, but i rather go with someone based on a recommendation.

I will let you know who we selected.

I put in a new furnace last fall and just put in the A/C unit out side this week. Nice and COOL now. My house is 1620 sq. ft. and I went with a 3 ton unit. A local company installed mine. Good luck.
