Two of us went fishin between bamfield-loud dam(near rollaways). Fished from 6;30-11;00 a.m. Targeted walleyes, We took six over 15" threw 3 sub leagal eyes back. Also took 3 northerns & 1 brown trout (about 13") no stamp so back he went. Rained all morning(ended up with wet @$$ :D )All in all a fair morning for that stretch of the river.

I am not trying to be a smart a$%, but you said you didn't have a trout stamp so the brownie went back. I thought you had to have a trout stamp to even fish on the ausable river, not just to keep trout. If I am wrong please let me know.

jetwrench I think you are right. If you are fishing any designated trout waters as stated in the fishing guide, especially when trout are in season, you better have a trout stamp (well not a stamp anymore unfortunately, but you know what I mean).

I do not think the stretch of river we fished is designated trout waters. Its the backwaters of loud dam & up river about 2 miles. Been checked by dnr many times over the years.I have been asked for fishing lic. but never trout stamp.
