this is what I have :

http://www.starcraftmarine.com/?page=seriesdetails&serid=2&tab=photos

and my small mushroom and small Danforth are not going to cut it in the river for stugeon fishing. (us trollers don't have much use for dead weight on board ! LOL  )

How big of a Navy or River anchor do I really need ? Which is better for these rivers ?

Would I be better off with two smaller anchors? (for better boat positioning ?)

thanks

Mike, the anchor you had was all tangled up so I untied it, straightened out the mess, then chucked it over to anchor in a spot before I retied it back on.:dizzy: Kasploosh in the middle of the night last I saw it.

I replaced it with this one suitable for a 26'-30' boat.

Not sure if this helps or not. Best of luck on the sturges!

has catching fish gotten SO easy for you that you have to SCARE them away from the boat first now ???????

I think they call that "creating bottom structure"

get a decent sized danforth and i think you'd be alright. i would get the size one up from the recommended size for your boat. they grab tight, real tight. also, normally you are anchoring in a bit slower current while fishing for sturgeon than say upriver fishing for walleye.

I think I like STEINFISHSKI's anchor better than a danforth,(No offense Steve:D) Two anchors are not necessary, we tie off from the front of the boat and fish off the back of the boat, letting the current keep us straight, or turning the motor to bring us in or out if need be. By the way, I got your tag. Treeman is tag #2006, I'm #2007, and your #2008.... Which means that he had his lucky year last year, I'm gonna have mine this year, and yours comes next year!!!!:D :evilsmile :evilsmile :evilsmile

watch out for rivers with shale bottoms. I have found 2 in the Maumee this year .wedged in the bottom .the river is low and I have been finding all kinds of things

Check out the Richter anchor. It grabs on a river bottom, and is retrieved by pulling forward and up.
