Just watched him get another clutch hit and 2 RBI's with the bases loaded.
I'm not sure where I am with this guy. He's a very solid fielder. Hits .285-.300. Seems to come through in key situations.
But why doesn't he excite me? I actually like him quite a bit but is it because he's missing the "Star" status?
What's your guys and gals take on him?

My take is he's the perfect fit for this team. For some reason people have it set in their head that the Tigers need help at 1B because Casey doesn't provide the power numbers that a prototypical 1B does (i.e. Pujols, Giambi, Texeria, Morneau).
The Tigers have plenty of offense so I think Casey is perfectly fine at 1B. Plus he's the ultimate Clubhouse guy. One of the things that makes this Tigers club tick is their Chemistry and Casey is a big part of that.
They don't call him the Mayor for nothing.

Like usual, I agree with Radiohead - can't find a more likeable guy, he's going to hit .300 or close enough to it, gap hitter, will drive in runs when they're out there, not going to hit a lot of homers, but will pick it up in the field. I've been a Sean Casey fan since his days with Cincinnati.

It's hard not to like him..the average is up finally, solid in the field, great in the clubhouse, we could do alot worse.

I like him. Good hitter even though he is the one guy on the team I actually think I could beat in a foot race.:D

not exciting but a great person to have in your clubhouse. he hands down won the "nicest player in baseball" award that was derived from players surveys.
solid, though not great hitter. decent in the clutch, and pretty solid in the field.
yes, he looks awkward, must have an inseam of 42" and a little oafy lookin but he flat out gets the job done (and relatively cheaply).

He's a very solid pro. Good bat, especially in the clutch. Great glove in the field. He pulls out alot of bad throws to make the out. More homers would be nice, but RBI is the name of the game, and he hits with men on base.
Jumpshootin got it right. He saves enough runs by saving bad throws to more than make up for the lack of Home Runs.
Agree with everything everyone has said about Casey. But boy, wouldn't Mark Texeira look good in a tiger uniform right now. He's young, has excellent power numbers, and is a very good fielder!!!Then you gotta ask yourself do we have enough power already?Your window to win the series for this team is this year and next(with this core),I say jump at the opportunity right now if it comes up to get him.If it costs ya C Moe,a guy in the pen,and a young pitching prospect, then jump at it.You lose Monroe and you plug Maybin in.What a difference a couple of years makes,we can come up with different scenarios now where as before we could only dream.

Yeah he would look great right now sitting on the bench because he is on the DL.

If he would just get rid of the batting glove ritual and just hit.:D Nice guy though, doesnt seek the glory and media attention.
