By going on a radio show and saying that a minimum of 10 games will be won by the Lions this year. Has Roy somehow got into your head? What a boner.

Time to blow the dust off of my "Another one bites the dust" record.

Why not say that? would you rather have him come out and say, 4 or 5 wins this year?? to me, i'd rather have my QB, the leader of the team, come out and say something like that, it may or may not happen, but at least they can look at it and say hey, "our QB has confidence in us", and maybe gets them to work that much harder. It is one thing for us, the fans, to think negative, but when you are actually on the team, would you go around making negative comments? doubt it

I'd much rather he shut up, prove it on the field, and let the record speak for itself.

I think he's absolutely correct. The Lions will win at least ten games. Unfortunately it's going to take them at least 2-3 seasons to do it. :)
Come on and join the ranks of us who have completely and truly given up on the Lions. It makes for a much more enjoyable fall season.:)

:yeahthat:
I was watching ESPN's P.T.I. today and Kitnas quote was discussed. The guy who was replacing Mike Wilbon for the day made the following observation:
During my entire lifetime the loins have been with out a doubt the worst franchise in sports. Not just the NFL, but in all of sports.
That pretty much sums it up!!!
Make Detroit a better place, punch Millen and Ford in the face!!!

the upside and the downside:
Up:The Lions do win 10+ and a 38 year old Kitna gets to personally say, "I told you!" while smacking ya'll around the face with Barry Sanders bobble head.
Down:The Lions stink, Dan is named the starter, they begin a "rebuilding" process and we get a top 5 pick

And what one do you think will happen? What one has the best odds, the loins winning 10+ or they stink? I'll put my money on the "down" with the loins having to do yet another rebuild, the 40th rebuild in the last 50 years:dizzy:

He may have been referring to the CFL's defending Grey Cup Championship team, BC Lions.

My money would be on up this year. Mike Furrey said so.

Can you blame Kitna for being excited? He has Martz as his offensive coordinator, a new offensive line, a phenon new reciever, AND he passed for 4,000+ yards LAST year.
Look at the match-up problems defenses will face this year. If all they do is run Williams and Johnson deep every play one will be in single coverage. I feel sorry for that corner. With the wide outs running deep, Mike Furrey will have more open real estate in front him than Century 21. His most likely match up will be one-on-one with the middle line backer. Who is gong to cover the tight end? What about the back out of the back field?
Like I said, it is going to be interesting to watch. Isn't it?

On paper, Kitna with three solid receiving targets, looks like an explosive combination.
A lot of people complained about Kitna's high number of interceptions last year but they need to remember that in a Martz offense the QB is throwing to a pre-determined spot on the field and that if he's picked off it is more often than not the receivers fault for not being in the right spot. One of the reasons that C-rog and Mike Williams were not effective is because the Martz offense is hard to learn and they seemed incapable of learning the routes. For Furry and Roy, being in the second year of this offense should make things much easier for them, since they should have the routes down pat by this point.
The other big problem the offense had last year was scoring in the red zone. How many times did we see the lions have the ball first down inside of the five and run KJ three straight times up the middle and not get a score? The acquisition of TJ Duckett should cure this problem. With the addition of Bell and Duckett, the lions should have a credible running game that can only enhance the opportunities for Kitna and the receiving corps.
Again, it all comes down to staying healthy. If the Lions can stay healthy then they have the potential to improve dramatically this year. It's going to be interesting to watch, that's for sure.
The one big concern that I have is that we have no credible back-up QB. If Kitna goes down early in the year with a season ending injury, things are going to get real ugly, very quickly. The lions should give some serious thought to picking up another journeyman back-up to fill the gap until Stanton is ready in a few years. I hear Culpepper has asked to be released or traded, he might be a good short term back-up, if the price is low enough.

Culpepper is already released, but I don't see him coming to the Lions. Realistically, he lost the starting job to Joey Harrington in Miami.
Even though Orvlaski doesn't have the experience he has one year learning Martz' (COMPLICATED) system. I think this alone gives him a leg-up on Culpepper. Also, all I have ever heard about Orvlaski is that he is a "gym rat", he is constantly working out, studying film, and dedicated to learning the system. He is definitely one smart kid. Honestly, if Martz didn't think highly of him do you think he would have let McCown leave the organization? Most likely NOT! Martz has about as smartz as you will find in any coach.

I doubt Culpepper will end up with the Lions, either, but you have a lot more faith in Dan-O than I do. He's had, what like 10 snaps in the NFL in his three years? If he has such great potential why did they draft Stanton?
They got rid of McCown for the same reason that they got rid of Bly, they wanted to leave and Marinelli only wants players who are 100% committed to this team.
If Kitna gets hurt and Dan-O has to fill the void, I'm betting it would not be pretty. If they can pick up Culpepper or another veteran for chump change, it would be a good insurance.

How many QB's do you think the team should cary? Who do you cut?
I see them keeping 3 QB's; Kitna, Stanton, and either Orvlaski or O'Sullivan.
The only QB on this list that would be elligible for the practice squad would be Stanton. However, I don't think they would risk letting him clear wavers and not being picked up by another team.

Culpepper is going to be a Jaguar, I personally think they need to go to Orvlaski now, heck if that doesn't work, bet Millen could get Vick on the Cheap.

I saw him on the NFL network yesterday backing up his 10 win statement. It looks like somebody needs a urine test.
