Apparently the deal is for Player(s) to be named later.
My guess.....we're gonna get to pluck a position player prospect or two from St. Louis' farm system this winter.

I'd guess to make room for the new kids we've been using while Kenny and Joel were hurt.

I say Pujols. :bonk:

Two players to be named later...
That doesn't leave me feeling all that good about this deal. If it was one PTBNL I'd expect that we at least included some of St. Louis's top prospects on the list of players to be picked from. If it's two guys I can't believe there are any blue-chip prospects on the list.

There was too many starters on the roster. With Durbin and Miller doing good, someone had to go. AND Maroth hasn't been as good as he should be anyways.

Why would Mike Maroth demand any blue-chip prospects?

He's a respectable 5th starter and a left hander. He'll be fine in the NL. He doesn't blow teams away with his stuff, but he keeps his team in games. There are a lot of teams looking for a 4th or 5th starter like that.

Maroth will be a help to a team on the rise, a .500 pitcher who keeps his team in the game...But, the Tigers need a potentially better than .500 pitcher as the #5 starter and I don't see Maroth as better than a .500 pitcher...Maybe one of the players to be named is a relief pitcher we desperately need...

I've been hearing rumors on sports radio that it won't be a pitcher. No names though.

According to the people posting draft scenarios on this board the Tigers should have dealt Maroth, Thames, Grilli and Vance Wilson to the Cards for Albert Pujols and Chris Carpenter.

The player the Tigers get could also be Mike Maroth.

I like it, I like it alot.
I think you have the best starting pitching in the American league.
Miller
Robertson
Rogers
Verlander
Bonderman
And a decent Bullpen:
Durbin
Miner
Seay
Brdak
Grilli
(Rodney  )
Not to mention the deadliest, sickest, baddest offense in baseball:chillin:

He's supposed to start tonight - it'll be interesting to see how he does in the NL. Talked to my Cards-fan buddy on Friday night, told him that Maroth was now "their problem" - he groaned!

Pitched a great game last night - too bad he didn't get the win. You forgot about the 2 pickoffs. He should do much better in the NL.
You've got to think the rest of MLB would like to have the Tigers' problems - too many starting pitchers, too many lefties.

Got to just chuckle when the guy you just traded because you have 5-6 better starters on your roster, goes out and does that. Granted he hadn't been that strong throughout this season...but still-just crazy to see performances like that---because he wasn't up to par.
