With Kenny coming back to the rotation friday...and things not exactly clear as to what might happen with the rotation after that...Chad deserves a round of applause for the role he filled when we needed him. After a shaky start he has really pitched pretty solid. 6-3 with an era just over 4 as a 5th is solid. Coming from a guy who had primarily been a minor leaguer...and it looked like it was going to stay that way... i say good for him. His chance came ..he grab the bull by the horns and i hope he never looks back. Good for you Chad!

I would love to see them keep him in the rotation. I still say get rid of Maroth and Rodney!!

I'll admit, with his first couple outings, I was a little nervous about Durbin. His ball looked to have very little movement, and he was very hittable. However, he's bounced back nicely. He's spotting the fastball, and his breaking stuff has gotten much much better. He's won me over. I don't see him as ever being a top 3 rotation guy, but that's fine. He can always fill a role. If Durbin is your 4 or 5 or your long relief guy outta the bully, your in great shape with great depth. As far as I'm concerned, Chad has won a spot on this team, and I believe the Tigers upper management feels the same way. When Kenny, Nate-dog, and Miner all come back, I think Chad is gonna still be on this team. JMO, but I see DeLaCruz being sent back down, Durbin going to the bully for long relief, and Maroth becomes expendable and very likely traded. And I don't think Maroth is going to be traded for anything for the present roster. If I was a betting man, I gotta believe that Maroth is gonna be dealt for either draft picks, or for a hotshot position prospect (or 2??) in the A or AA level. It wouldn't break my heart at all to see Mike get dealt for a young blue chip Catcher, or a 2nd or a 1st baseman.:)

And here's the reason why I say this about Maroth. For the rest of the season, my gut tells me that our starting 5 is going to look like this:
1-Bondo
2-Gambler
3-Verlly
4-Nate-Dog
5-Miller Time

While I agree that something is going to change I feel bad for Maroth. Granted he hasn't been as sharp since the surgery but he has stuck with the Tigers during some horrid times. He voluntarily lost 21 games for them a few years ago when the Tigers couldn't hit a lick. As much as I understand the business/professional aspect of Baseball I sure hate to do dirt to someone with as much class as Mike has.

Wow! You nailed that one

I do hate to see him gone though - my son chatted with him and got his autograph when we saw the Tigs play in Fenway a few years ago - classy guy.

Yes sir, he's a very classy guy. Got to shake his hand and talk with him last year at the MS event up in Troy. Both him and his wife took time and thanked all who showed up for the event. I have alot of respect for him.
I hope he does well with the Cards.....until they play the Tigers of course :coolgleam

Hows 'bout Durbin out of the pen last night? Bullpen looks a ton better already, though that could be a product of the Braves woeful hitting this past week. I'd still like to see that new guy they got from Atlanta come in, or did he get immediately sent down?

McBride was sitting on the bench or in the bullpen on the first game of the series. They were talking about sending him down when they first got him, but don't know if they decided to keep them up as their situational lefty or not.

Nate is not officially on the big league roster, so when he starts this week, they will have to send somebody down. My guess would be the new guy because the do not need 3 lefties in the pen. Should be interesting to see how Nate does, because he has Durbin breathing down his neck if he has a bad game or two.
