Ive never set out to purposely fish for walleye although ive caught a few on accident . im wondering if anyone could tell me a good lake(s) in sw that have good numbers of walleye in them. i really want to try walleye fishing out. also if you feel inclined, im fairly clueless on how to rig up and acutally fish for them. any info would be appreciated thanks

I dont know how far SW your looking but the St. Joseph river is a good bet for walleye fishing. Any deep outside bend of the river usually produces. There are some dandy walleye in there also.
Commonly a jig and minnow combination will work. Some troll slow with hot n tots in silver or gold patterns. A three way with a sinker and a crawler harnes works good in current. The sinker tag has to be longer than the harness tag and a somewhat vertical presentation. This keeps the harness off of the bottom.
White and chartreuse jig and grub work for walleye, smallmouth, and steelhead. It's a fun lure to use because you never know what you will catch.

I kill 'em in the rivers with a 1/16 oz chart jig head and a white twister tail... the trick is, the tail has to be short or they won't take it... at least I think that's what it is.. I bought some powerbait tails and they aren't working like the last ones were.. they were YUM or whatever and i got them at meijers in the dollar bin.. good luck!

If you go walleye fishing , use leeches . In the river you should drift them or put them on the bottom with the lightest weight you can get away with and rig it slip style so the weight moves free on the line so the fish dont feel the weight . In a lake do the same but use a light sinker and light line with a floating jig head tipped with a leech . The walleyes hit them everytime . Happy fishin

try maple lake in paw paw! I think the walleye were stocked in that lake before. I caught a nice 19" earlier this year on a glow in the dark green 1/4 oz leadhead with a pumpkin 2" powerbait or somethin like that underneath the dam. Pretty good stuff if you ask me!

not as heavy as it's boat and jet ski population.
The Grand River and Muskegon Rivers are pretty good for walleye. 1/16 or 1/4 ounce gold or pink jig tipped with 1/2 night crawler or leech.
