Yeah, this one doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. This new guy is supposed to be a lefty specialist, but Ledezma was a pretty reliable reliever vs. all hitters.

It looks/sounds to me like this guy will probably end up in the minors until they get everything situated with Rogers and Robertson coming off the DL. They couldn't send Ledezma down anymore.

Lets read between the lines on what this trade means. Ledezma was out of options and could no longer be sent down to AAA. Mcbride has options remaining and can be sent to AAA. Why is this important? Because the team has an extra starter now and one will be going to the bullpen. To me this trade is writing on the wall that Maroth is going to the bullpen.

Definitely a bummer. I think Ledezma would be better suited to start though. He won't get that opportunity here. I think he's going to be a good one.

I have to think he's pitched more innings in the major leagues than the minors. Peter Gammons compared him to Johann Santana a few years ago. He just needs to throw his change up more consistently and he could be dominant.

There was nothing else the Tigers could do, though. Looks like that's a vote of confidence for Frankie DelaCruz.

He's heading to the pen for now. Maybe to another team before too long. We'll see how it shakes out. Now that the weather is warmer I think Miller is here to stay.

Yep, your right, thats exactly what happened. Maroth will either go to the pen or be traded would be my guess.

That's what I figured - it makes more sense to me now, but those "options" rules MLB come up with confuse the heck out of me.

:yeahthat: Absolutely correct. Ledezma was out of options and he would've had to clear waivers to get sent down. Obviously someone would've claimed him and we would've lost him for nothing. This way, Dave orchestrated a way to get something in return for a guy that was gonna be a goner. Something is always better than nothing. Another smart move by Dave and Co.:)
