Haven't heard anything about Houghton Lake lately. Thinking about going up soon....any reports up there? How have the weeds been?
Thanks

I know a local who was so mad at the lake that he refused to put his boat in last year.
This year, he says the fishing has never been better. He's regularly getting 2-3 walleye a day, plus bass. He drifts a crawler harness near the south shore weed bed. He starts near the Limberlost, and drifts east.
Another old-timer up there confirms his story. Of course, both guys may have increased their medications last winter. Good luck and keep us posted.

last week 13th and 14th walleye fishin was just dandy..utilize low light hours and be prepared to sort...1 for 1 on legal vs. undersize..bass were good ..pike were slow

Was up there a few weeks ago for a bass tourney and accidentally limited on walleye both days. Concentrate on the northshore along the weedbeds in 6-12 foot casting rattle traps in natural colors. Also got them on some of the weedbeds by middlegrounds using the same meathod. 2 of us caught 13 in two days. GOOD LUCK!!!

Was there Friday 6/22 from 7:30 - 2. One nice smallmouth that went back, then switched to panfish and got a few nice gills and perch. But it was pretty slow, at least for us.

I also fished Houghton Lake this weekend with not much to show. Total my dad and i cought 2 largemouth, and 8 or 10 small pike (18"-20") That seems to be about our average catch for a weekend on Houghton Lake though so i havnt lost too much sleep. The strange thing is...we keep coming back.

Bounce the bottom with minnows . You will catch alot of fish in all varieties . Also , use leeches under a bobber . You will also nail alot of fish that way . Never fails . Happy fishin
