Hello all , went to ford lake on sunday , launched at the couty park . Caught some nice bass on rebel crayfish and crawlers . The walleyes were hittin good also on crawlers . the trick seemed to be trolling very slow with a half oz weight " slip style " with a floating jig head on a 3 foot leader tipped with a crawler . We got a few 3-4 lbers . I have a question about ford lake launching . Does anyone know of another luanch site other than the couty park ? it is a good site but it costs $8 every time you go and a monthly pass is $50 . I feel this is kinda high and if you buy a monthly and dont use it to often than you lose money . If anyone knows another luanch site , that would be great . Thanks either way and happy fishin !!!!!

That's the only launch. For a residents it's $30 per year (got mine Saturday) and I think $50 for non-residents. It's not monthly. (At least I don't think it is....)
You did really well if you're picking up 3-4 pounders out of there. We usually get consistent 18-20 inchers. Then sometimes you'll just get into a school of 13"s......

:fish: i live right around the corner from ford lake,i fish ford and belleville lake all the time, unfortunetly that county park launch is the only launch on ford lake.there used to be a old one off of grove rd road but its not usable any more for more than a canoe or kyak.belleville on the other hand has three that are either public or semi public theres one on rawsonville rdthats a state dnr sticker, along with the one on huron river rd over by the moose in belleville just down from the police station the other is a private open the the public at sandys marine they charge 5bucks to launch there.
hope this helps the fisheries in the two lakes is pretty much so the same the only bad part about belleville this time of year is all the high power boat traffic, from the water skiers. good fishing and good luck hope this helps. :dizzy:

Ford Lake gave up some decent smallies last night. A couple we're between 16" & 17" lg. The bite was much better than the bite has been for Belleville Lake bass (for me anyhow).
I think the expensive launch fee is bad but good. It keeps a lot of the pleasure boaters off the water, making it a better fishery. Belleville just gets too much action on a hot summer day, making it damn near impossible to fish at times.

Yea , we have the bass sticker to launch at belleville but there is to much weekend traffic . I do agree ford lake launch is too expensive " i'm a non resident " . The traffic of boaters on ford was minimal and i'm sure makes it for better fishin . Thanks for tip and if anyone who is a resident would like to purchase a sticker for $30 bucks for me it would be great . If anyone is interested in this let me know . I will make it worth your while . A little dishonest but come on $50 bucks for a year pass is ridiculous . Thanks either way and happy fishin .

When I lived in Ypsi township (I moved away a few years ago), every time I purchased a launch sticker, they would put it on your vehicle for me, they wouldn't just give the sticker to me. Further, I was always required to show my vehicle registration to prove I owned it (compared against drivers license). So I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if they still do this you may be SOL with your plan. Sorry. I agree with you though, that is a lot of money for a launch permit to sort through a bunch of 12" eyes to try and find a couple legal ones. :)

They are tough on the stickers too. You have to show your ID and then the vehicle registration and they write everything down.....

Well, $50 per year is a lot better than $50 per month. And I am sure their strict policies keep boating and FISHING traffic more limited than on Belleville Lake, so you might stand a lot better chance of getting into good fishing. I have lived in Belleville for 19 years, and have only been on the lake a couple handfuls of times, even though I have owned boats for much of that time. It is pretty busy and not as clean as the other waters I am used to using.

On hot weekends, there can be quite a few rec boaters clogging up the Ford Lake launch, but it's nowhere near the headache one might get @ the rawsonville launch.
Hey guys.
I've fished ford lake from the shore before and have never caught anything but some gills. Does anyone know if its worth it to fish the shore for bass or walleyes, being that i dont have a boat?

I guess I didnt think about them putting it on for you . Th sticker that is . It was worth a shot . Also I see guys fishing from shore all the time . They say they do pretty good . Last week a guy caught a 23" walleye on a leech just sittin with his bait on the bottom . Also caught a bunch of bass. Try different methods and I guarentee you will catch some fish . Leechs are a hot bait out there and everywhere for that matter . Happy fishin
