First big move of the year...Delfino to Toronto for 2 2nd round picks. Meh, Delfino showed flashes of his potential, but, could never produce on a consistent basis, and he has said he wants a bigger role. I guess it's a good move for both sides, Carlos will get a bigger role, and the Stones can clear some(not much) cap space and a couple late draft picks, you never know.

I am guessing there is a big move in the works, Joe has hinted around to it, moving some starters around. IMO, they need it at least if they want another ring. With the team they have right now, sure, they will probably reach the Conf finals again and again, and win one sometimes. However, winning a championship is a different story, the West is a beast. The Pistons need a go-to super star caliber player to go all the way. If they can somehow keep Tay, Rip, and Billups, and get a player like KG...that would be huge.

Good thread and good discussion Kevin...KG will retire in Minnesota IMO...But the bottom line is, as long as Flip coaches this team, they will never win a championship. Not enough discipline on this team and the only reason Flip stays here is because no one is really out there...

Good thread Kevin, I'll enjoy this discussion with everyone...

Would like to see C.Webber gone. Or take a role off the bench, but I'd bet he's gone.

Sheed. What to do with Sheed? A player who could be a real force in the NBA, if/when his head is screwed on right. With a Sheed whos head is right
you could go farther. With a Sheed whos head is hearing voices, you might make it to the 1st round!!! If i where Dumars, I'd send the guy to a shrink, try to find out whats going on in that head!!! I dont recall another player in Detroit sports who can take so many games off than put it all together and have big games.

C. Bill, Rip and Tay, I'd like to see them all stay. To me this is the core for the stones. Tay needs someone who can come off the bench and back him up. He plays far to many minutes for a guy who some thin. I think the season wears him down and come the playoffs when he has to guard Lebron or D, Wade, he's to tired. he even said as much last year after losing to Miami.. Rip and Chauncey need to find a post game. Take it to the rack or kick it out. But neither is really that type of player. Both are jump shooters.

Flip Saunders is no chanpionship level coach. Oh, he might get there, he might even win one but it will be cause of the players he has. Not his coaching moves. I think he has one more season to get to the finals or he's gone. Dumars said in his press confrence this week that he will have to get involved in keeping Sheeds head in line. What does that statement say about Flips ability to handle his players?

Bench. Lindsey will most likely retire. Davis will most likey move on or retire
Nazr never was the player who the stones thought he was. Dice is a huge
asset and i hope he's back!! Maxiell showes promise, But i dont see him as a starter. If he could develope a jump shot it would help his game alot.
He is a energy player whos best comming off the bench.
A. Johnson's time has arrived. Next year he will be part of the rotation, off the bench. He will get playing time and we will be able to see what this guy has. The word on him is he has plenty of up side and other owners are interested in him, so he must have potential.

I'd like to see Webber gone and trade Sheed. But the stones are in a bad position up front in that no one is there to fill those roles. Maxiell is not a starter. Nazr isnt. Dice cant. Johnson is to young and unproven to take a starting role. So if you can trade sheed and bring in another starting big man with some expierence to help Johnson and Maxiell develope.

All that said, I would not be against trading any one or two or three players, even starters, if the RIGHT players became available.
K.G. to Detroit is a rumor i hear EVERY off season. And its never happened.
Kobe to Detroit? Dont count on it!!.

I trust Dumars to make some moves that will help. Draft picks have not been his strenght, but trades seem to work for Dumars.
We'll have to see what happens after the Draft. Things might start happening after the Draft.

Let's face it,,, with the players/coach they have now they won't win it. I have a firm belief that Larry Brown was the only reason they won that championship. And when you look at that Lakers series,, that was one of the biggest upsets in sports history. Bottomline,,, since we know Larry ain't comin' back,,, we need some players. I woulda loved to see KG here,,,,,,,,,, 2 or 3 yrs. ago,, not now. Joe D has his work cut out for him,, .

Chauncey is testing the market. He wants to see what his value is. If some team offers him $15 mill. per year he would most likely take it. But the Pistons can keep him simpley by offering more. Not that he's worth 15mil.
I would expect him to get in the 12Mil. range.

News flash!!! Kobe is not, repeat, NOT comming to Detroit!!! Ive said it
before on this pistons forum and will say it again, Kobe will not-is not comming to Detroit.

Yeah, Kobe ain't coming. There is a small possibility of maybe Kg coming, and maybe a slightly better possibility of Marion coming. I am sure there is a HUGE trade in the works, Joe D. has not been happy the past couple years and he knows what he needs to do.

Billups to sign 5 year, 60 million deal with Detroit....

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2925200

12 mill a year for one of the leagues premiere PGs, that is good. Espessially considering they were willing to spend, what, just under 15 on Ben.

......opps, it appears that news was a bit preampted, Chauncey's agent said they haven't even began talks yet, Billups is on vacation with his family right now..... MAN, if that could only happen for real, because, that would be a GREAT deal if that would really happen. I think that jinxed it, and the Pistons will now have to offer a max deal...

The deal is essentially done, they are just working on the 5th year. Don't sweat it, it will be "Officially" done soon.

Yeah, that's the story. CB's agent got his knickers in a twist over a published article saying the deal was about done, but that's just because he has no negotiating strengths. All of the probable suitors for CB's services drafted themselves out of the running, so there is very little risk of anyone swooping in to ruin the good-for-the-Pistons deal. The only thing I would worry about is another team coming in just to make Detroit push their cap number a little higher to possibly flush out Amir Johnson as a UFA. He is younger and has more upside than CB and would probably take a mid-level exception without a struggle because it is more than the Pistons could pay without getting into luxury tax status.
