Ok, I'm not one to question Leyland, so I'll put it this way: can someone explain to me why Monroe was sent up in the 9th inning, man on 3rd, 1 out, 1 run down, after striking out in his first 4 AB's? Is it only because he can hit the fly ball and these athletes have fragile egos and need a little confidence shown in them? I for one didn't expect anything different than what ultimately did happen (not sure why he was allowed to strikeout the 4th time). Oh well, they'll get 'em next time.
A couple tough series coming up (with an easier one sandwiched in between), so the Tigs are going to have to get back to form hitting with RISP.

Jim Leyland's faith in his players is one of the reasons they would run through a brick wall for him.
But hey, we could always bring back Alan Trammell.

That's what I figured, and like I said, I'm a big Leyland fan. Just frustrating to see a player with 5 K's in a game.

That's Craig Monroe though. He could go 5-5 tomorrow with 2 HRs.

Monroe has earned the right over the past few years to bat in that situation. Granted he struggled mightily but he has had some bigtime clutch hits the past few years. To be honest, I was excited that Monroe was up because I was thinking OK, there's now way he can strike out 5 times in one game. Wrong
The real questionable call was batting Rabelo with 2 outs and Pudge on the bench.
Look at it this way, Cleveland has been playing there best ball and are only 2 games up on us. We have a lot of improvements to make!

That said
why dont he have Granderson Bunt
I am HUGE Granderson fan and I am a huge Leyland fan
But with Curtis's Speed he could put up 40 runs or more SUper easy just by bunting
and we all know he can hit the long ball but where has he been this month got me worried
