Looks like I'll be spending some time up there on this lake the end of July first part of August. Anyone have any tips? Not after the secret spot or anything just some general info like typical baits/lures would be appreciated. I fish many different ways. PM's welcome.
I searched the forums, some but not a whole lot on here about it.
I have a lake map and survey info from the Sportsmans Connection CD. Looks like a good lake to fish to me. Mostly interested in eyes but, smallmouth action and even the thought of a musky sounds just as good to me!
Thanks for any feedback!

I've lived on it since 1988.

Fishing is pretty good in the spring and in the fall for eyes and smallies, sometimes late at night during the summer, but the warmer the water gets and the more the water gets kicked up by boats and jet skis, the poorer the fishing gets. Especially for muskies, which have been picking up in the last few years.

Lots of eyes in the 16-23 inch range, I rarely hear of anything bigger than that, except for one or two on occasion. Bellaire has fewer, but larger walleye.

You won't be here at a very good time of the year, in other words. Do your fishing at night off structure, which there is surprisingly little of except down at the south end of the lake. Leeches, if you can find them.

I am salmon fishing off Charlevoix by that time of the year.

Good luck...

As Linda said, thats the worst time of year to be there, but there are fish to be had, especially at night. The lake has some dandy fish in it too. Best bet is the sunken islands in the south end of the lake. Here is Trout with a nice smallie that came off the south east end of the lake in 5' of water after a strong cold front blew through in early August a couple years back while we were staying at Lindas rental cabin.

Thats where I'll be ESOX. I don't mind night fishing either. Sounds like a challange ahead. Been on Lake Bellaire before, nice area just to be around but would like some action, appreciate the replies.
So any Lake Bellaire tips would also be appreciated! Got a map and data of this one too
