Hey guys, I need your help. (again)
Is there a campground near Croton that's still open? Is it legal to park overnight at the launch, that's a couple of miles downstream of the dam?
Oh boy, look at the stream-flow of our rivers. What a much-needed shot in the arm.

Shoeman I called around and you are out of luck on the campground.I wouldn't be to worried about camping at the Pine street landing. It is fairly large. That being said, your on your own.Goodluck!!!

Thanks, Dutchman. I appreciate you taking the time. I thought, they would be closed for the season.

P.J. Hoffmaster State Park (south of Muskegon) is open for camping, but no showers or running water are available. It's 25-30 minutes from Newaygo and I would think maybe 45-50 minutes from Croton, not too bad, really. Last week my wife and I stayed at Hoffmaster and drove to Newaygo for a canoe trip, which started at the Thornapple access. Hoffmaster is pretty awesome for sunsets over Lake Michigan.

Also, Henning County Park in Newaygo (on the Muskegon River) is supposedly open, according to Mr. Wisner of the canoe rental place in Newaygo. I called the Newaygo city hall and no one knew anything about the park being open, but Mr. Wisner is a bit of a salty dog and he was convinced it is open for camping. Henning would be about 15 minutes from Croton.

Hah! Salty Dog is the nicest thing "Mr." Wisner has been called in a long time.
