Nate' gettin' T'd up. Not sure what's going on there, but it sure doesn't seem like he's into it. Hope things begin to look up for him soon.

As well as the rest of the pitching staff!
Grilli looked great coming in though!!
Still scratching my head as to why Leyland pulled him.....

Yeah, this was a total role reversal. The bullpen looked stellar, for the most part. Rodney got beat up a little, but hey, you have to take the good with the bad.
I just hope Nate can shake it.

He has not had the command that he had last year. I have seen maybe one or two games that he pitched somewhat good. But it is going to take more than that. Rodney just plain sucks to!!

To me that whole bullpen seems erratic. You just don't know who will show up once they reach the mound. Reliability on a regular basis is not one of the pens finer points.

It's not so much his command. His arm is dead as of his last few starts. His pitches are lacking the zip and movement. He either has a dead arm or he has an injury he's keeping to himself. He is now not pitching aggressive as a result and is trying to tip-toe around the plate until he get's behind and then he's throwing down the middle and getting ripped.
I checked the Tiger website to see if my beleifs are justified and here's some quotes:
"I'm very concerned," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. "I don't know what to do with Nate right now. It's not the Nate Robertson we've come to know, and I'm suspicious as to why."
Leyland didn't accuse Robertson of hiding an injury, but he did say the pitcher's claims of sound health don't seem to jibe with what is happening on the field.
"The ball is just not coming out of his hand the same way," Leyland said. "I'm going to look into it more. To this point, he's said that he's fine. I'm not going to question him, but it's obvious something's not right."
"From what we've seen, it's down some (velocity)," the manager admitted. "I've got to look into whether everything is right [physically], because that's hard for me to believe.

Well maybe that's the case then. But is obvious that he is not pitching the same as last year. I would love to see them get it figured out.

Me too. Big fan of his mentality on the field. Imagine if Bonderman or even Verlander had his mentality to pitch inside, never back down, & bull dog thru runners on. They would be even better. Nate always had a bit of that mentality, but when Rodgers came to Detroit and Nate saw how Rodgers could get more done than most with less talent because of that mentality, Nate just went off.
He did great his first 4-5 starts so this is something that happend around his 6th start. I may go back and watch his last good start versus his first bad start and see if there is any other telling clues beside velocity & snap.

Relievers are actually pitching very well right now (minus Jonesy) I'm not gonna badmouth a team that's in the Wildcard position right now. The AL is VERY competitive this year, teams will beat up on each other, I think the Tigers have what it takes to make the playoffs, even with Jones saving the games.

I am ready for Kenny to come back too. I think that will be a huge mental thing for the pitchers

15 day DL for Robertson
Tigs are calling up Andrew Miller, that kid has some kind of stuff. Nate might find himself in AAA or on the table real soon.
