I loved the way he played. He's gotta be up there in career playoff points per game too.
I would love to see if they could even get Federov cheap. Imagine him, if he got his head out of his @ss, centering the second line.

Why would he come cheap? He's a top guy and a veteran on a young Thrashers team, and he plays with two of the best players in the league. I'd love for it to happen, but I'm still skeptical. He's more valuable to Atlanta as a top player than to the Wings as a second-liner.
I have heard that Kenny actually wants to bring back Lang, on the cheap, if he can. I've also read that Kenny is trying to re-sign Schneider, and not make an offer to Markov. Who knows what he is going to do? :dizzy:

Markov is a heck of a defenseman! He plays with grit, Kenny needs his head examined, why sign the guy with the most give aways in the league?

NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
Do not bring him back! He WAS a decent post-season performer for awhile, back in the 90's. Another winger? Not what we're after. He's 35 years old now, probably close to 36, and he's still as small as he ever was. You guys remember the Stevens hit in 95 right?:tdo12: Our team is about defense, grit, sandpaper, and playing with some abrasiveness. Being hard to play against. I know he's been gone since '01, but do you guys remember Kozlov's defensive game? He doesn't have to play D in Atlanta. Heck, nowone does. Someone look up his post-season stats in Atlanta. Please do. I'm not even gonna look, don't tell me. But I'm willing to bet his stats were God awful. He's a regular season player. He's another Datsyuk, only an older version, and he can't play Center like Pavel. His numbers might look good on the PP, but he can't play post-season 5 on 5.

I agree 110% with FishEater. I've been bashed on these boards before saying the same thing about Koz. We need grit and heart. I'd love to see Ryan Smith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kenny do what you have to, to get him here.

Everyone has to remember,,, Detroit isn't going to be the only team "looking" at these big name FA's. And most other teams are gonna be overpaying.
Kozlov??? Ummm,, No. Lang?? I don't think it really matters,, if he re-signs it'll be dirt cheap and he won't get many minutes anyway and if he goes elsewhere,,, no biggie. Personally,,, I like Markov.

Could not agree more. The last three Cup champs and this years winner will be no different, were full of big gritty forwards who could go to the corners, pound on defensemen, and then had the speed to get back to the front of the net or cycle the puck. The Wings are currently severely lacking in this department. No more undersized Europeans!!!! Go get some size with speed.

Sure they're full of big gritty forwards, but they didn't have the scoring depth that the Wings do. We can't go around throwing money at guys just because they are gritty. Gritty guys play on the lower lines and don't make $6 million per season like Smyth.
