Hi all,
I just got a PM from a member on a woodworking site that I'm a member of. He's headed up to the Grayling area and would like to do some Pike fishing. I'm not very familiar with that area as far as lakes go. Anyone in that area have any ideas? I was going to suggest Lake Margrethe and or Higgins. I've actually never fished either but I would assume that there are probably Pike in both. Would that be a good assumption?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

John

Otsego is like 10-15 minutes away. Pretty good fishing there.

higgins could be a little tough on a novice..margrethe is good and muskies there are a bonus..otsego also offers decent fishing. blue lake /manisteelake(kalkaska county) offer some pike

Big Bradford lake is prolly the best lake for that near grayling. The launch is just south of the town of Waters on highway 27. Big lake on the north east side of Gaylord is also a good pike lake .

I was just up there and fished both of those lakes. I caught a 31incher on Bradford while bass fishing. I was using a green Yamasenko. If he gits bored w/ pike fishing the bass fishing is excellent on the east side of the lake.

If you wants to just catch and release, from June 15 to August 15th(?) its hard to beat Wakely Lake, east of Grayling 12-15 miles. Its a walk-in lake(1/4 mile), no motors, all artificial. Pike and bass. Federal daily pass is required.
