ok....so my wife and i went to the "largest fishing show" at the rock financial showplace several months ago...we purchased 2 kits called "magic" lures....for $5.00 for 2.......i was sceptical about them but i figured might as well try them....i took them out the first time and caught a 24" walleye after like 8 casts ...i was totally shocked and thought id share this with you all...they arent full of crap....they are magic.anyhoo....if any of you all have a tv fishing lure story id like if youd tell me and everyone about it...im trying to see what everyone thinks about these types of lures...like flying lure(tryed them...wasnt really impressed).....bionic minnow kit...(want 1 really bad...but dont own)....and the banjo minnow kit(dont own never tryed)...thanks pat

I really don't have any stories for you about TV lures (don't own any, myself.) I do know you can get some really good deals on some past TV "wonder" lures at your local dollar store! Should tell you all you need to know about those sorts of baits:lol:
And by the way, that "article" at the back of many fishing magazines with the "story" of the lure that works so good, it's been "banned from tournaments" is just an add - it's not a real story! I just have to roll my eyes:rolleyes: everytime somebody comes into the baitshop looking for it.
No offense, but catching one :fish: in 8 casts is not a magic lure.

1) helicopter lure - never caught even a cold/ecoli with that one
2) Flying Lure - worked bagged a few fish with it
3) Banjo - Works really well have caught many bass with it.

I've caught a few rock bass with a flying lure, and I've had no luck yet with a chatterbait (I just got one this year). I've never tried a banjo minnow.

im not saying that you cant catch a fish in 8 casts without one... but for me to catch a walleye that big in only 8 casts i thought it was great ,considering how sceptical i was about weather i could catch anything on them at all....i love them now...i just thought it would be fun to talk about tv lures with you all...im not advertising them in any way or endorsing them one way or the other....just wondered what everyone thought about them besides me.

Congrats!!! Hey I got a 'new' super lure for sale!!!!!!!!
Kidding aside, most of the tv deals suck. Stick with tried and true and you will do better overall.

A friend of mine left his banjo minnow kit in my boat and I gave them a try. Well he has never got them back. I have caught a ton of fish on these. Mostly bass, but I took them to the Bahamas and hooked alot of Tarpon off the docks at night. Never landed one, kind of hard to land 80# plus fish on twelve pound test around docks but what a blast!

I have a friend who is completely sold on the T.V. and magazine ads for these supposed "super lures". He's still convinced he can fish the pants off of me:rolleyes: . It hasn't happened yet,but he keeps trying:lol:   .
They are gimmicks pure and simple. If you bought one you have been fleeced! It's worse than an internet scam in my book!:fish: Try a conventional lure you have the utmost confidence in side by side with the gimmick and,if you are using it properly, you will catch more fish on the tried and true method.
JMO,I may be wrong!:yikes:   ;).Or maybe my friend is just an idiot who can't fish! That hasn't been ruled out yet:lol: !

Try the black and blue chatterbait on a relatively clear lake. I've gotten some of my biggest bass on this. Nice thing is you can feel if its fishing right by the shake. No shake means its fouled. Pike love it to. I use scented plastics called chompers when I wear out the plastics that come with it. Also you can make a lot of lures like the banjo at the local store. Flukes are pretty close.

Only one I've ever tried was the Banjo minnow. It was when I was younger and mostly fishing local farm ponds. It outfished anything else I had in my tackle box. Its also performed pretty well in larger lakes for bass and pike. The Banjo is the real deal. Its really not a gimmick bait like the helicopter etc.... its just a soft jerk bait rigged with out the hook in the body.

this thread is funny.
my most successful lure has been the tried and true beatle spin...hands down. My dad is a collector, so we've tried just about everything...but something about that beatle spin always works for us.
If everyone caught fish on Beatles spins, do you really think they would only cost $.99? Why would they still sell $7.00 raps?
I dont doubt that the TV lures do work. Just takes the right person, the right retrieve, the right lake, etc. If you are at a lake that has fish, it's nothing more than giving them what they want....today I caught bluegills one after another with an orange and gold teardrop...no bait, just a teardrop.
I figured it out because I was casting with a handful of raps and realized they were chasing the heck out of the orange one....all I had with me in the same color was teardrops...so I gave it a try.
If it's any consellation for the traditional lure guys...Saturday was silver and black rap day. Caught four bass and two pike plus a ton of huge gills on one...just shore fishing.
