Weight forward lures drifting

Has anyone been casting and drifting along the Luna Pier and Bolles area?
I was brought up fishing this way but the past few years it seems like only trolling has been catching them. I prefer me catching the fish...not the boat.
Any info would be appreciated....TY......Jake

We did real well with wepons out in 17' ow infront of the beach at sterling last weekend. We just started troling bb and as soon as I got into fish I stoped troling and started casting. ;)

we have been drifting and casting the past 15 days on the reef's in front of Davis Bessie ,every day not catching big fish but a lot of them mostly 17 to 25 inches I don't like to troll and and not a meat hunter just take what I get have not had any problem getting limits this year and the weather has been good.When we go east to Geneva we will troll to find the fish then cast for them don't go east until July
