I'm headed up north on Sunday, leaving the house at 3am. I'm so geeked I almost crap my pants once an hour. I just got a new 8-weight and I'm gonna get me some steel. :-D
I know I'm early for the steelhead, but it's my first time for these fish and I have an opportunity to go.
What would anyone recommend for high probability steelhead? PM or Muskegon, or somewhere else? It must be south of Traverse City, as I don't want to drive farther than that. I don't mind if it's east or west side of the state.
I hear/read that the Muskegon is on fire for salmon and there are "a few steelhead" in the PM. The weather forecast from now until Sunday is dry, so it looks like we won't get a flush of rain to bring the fish in.
I wouldn't mind salmon fishing but I don't dig crowds and I don't want to catch black zombies as some people are referring to the fish left in the PM.
Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
