This evening started off as usual...Got home from work about,oh....6:45ish and no sooner than I walked through the door it started! "Dad,take me fishing, dad take me fishing, dad take me......you get the idea;) . How could I let my best fishing bud down!

Quickly racing through dinner we hitched up the dinghy and headed off to our favorite piece of watery real estate. Then, after dealing with four bozos on jet skis at the launch, we were on our way!

Our first stop was strictly to catch bait(bluegills for flatheads:D ). And catch bait we did...plus a few for dinner tomorrow. Not long after we settled in I heard the infamous "Dad,I got a big one!"

Not bad,I thought, until thirty seconds later I hear it again!

16 inch largmouth!!! Not too shabby for a five year old who insists upon baiting his own hook and casting all by himself! Okay,so now we have enough bait and some dinner for tomorrow....Down to business! Got to our spot, all lines out. "Nathan you got a bite" I whispered,"Okay dad" was his only response. That was until his little ugly stick made like Shakespeare's old advertisement and bent over on itself! Then it came out "DAD,I GOT A HUGE ONE!!!!" After hearing his "33" scream for about three minutes he finally hauled up his monster.

I only helped with the net:mad: :D ! All in all,not a bad evening.I even managed to catch a flathead in the low 20# range, but no pic. as it was too small:cool: !

I can't wait for tomorrow when I get home from work and it starts all over again......

Looks like you've got a lifer there; you should be a proud dad. I think your son can outfish me, and I can't even tie flies either! I wouldn't mind catching some cats like that. This weekend I get to repay my father for all the years he put into me by taking HIM out fishing in MY very first boat.

Congradulations you have a partner for life. My son is 8 and he has the touch as well, outfishes me nearly every time. I love the times that me and the kids spend together fishing, camping, hiking or whatever. You are creating memories that he will remember for life and one day he'll be doing the same with his children, with you of course.

That had to be fun as heck for him, reeling in that cat!!!!! To a kid, that's a GIANT!!!!!!! Kind of like one of us reeling in a tuna:lol: It's nice to hear that some of these kids are hooked on fishin and there's no better fishin partner than your own kid. Every fish is a giant, a new experience and it's memories that they will have for a lifetime. Way to go dad!!!!
