I went out Bowfishing for carp yesterday for the first time and managed to shoot a nice 9lb carp :). But my question is: Is there a maximum depth that you can shoot a carp at because I must have shot 10-15 times at huge carp that were about 5-7 feet underwater. Does the arrow lose penitration that far down? or did I flat-out-miss ?

Thank you,

probably shot over him.... although that is pretty deep i would think with the weight of the arrow and the poundage of the bow you would have nailed him... check out our post in the traditional forum... we got a couple of those fish out in some deaper water out in the bays.

Odds are you missed....the shallower they are the easier they are to hit....the deeper the harder - there is more refraction..

the deeper they are the lower you have to aim.
