I am going up north to Tawas City in 2 weeks. I am looking for a place to fly fish. I don't care if is a small stream or not. I just want to wet my flies and catch any kind of fish. Doe's any one have any place they been up in that area. Todd

The Au Sable isn't too far away from that area.

The Au Sable is a good bet for bronzebacks on the fly. There's also northerns, carp, and walleye at that time. The bass can be pretty picky at times, so be prepared. Go light on your leader, the water is CRYSTAL clear and the bigger smallies are not dummies, good luck!

I have hd good luck with minnow type streamer, large stonefly nymphs, and terrestrials...especially crayfish patterns. Take extra flies, there are alot of snags if you fish below Foote dam. Good luck and have fun.
