From Yahoo Sports:

If goalie Dominik Hasek (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/260/) wants to play next season, the Detroit Red Wings (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/det/) are all for it. Hasek didn't commit one way or another to playing another season after Tuesday's series-ending 4-3 loss to the Anaheim Ducks (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/ana/).
But coach Mike Babcock and Hasek's teammates believe Hasek can still play next season if he so desires.
Babcock has yet to speak with Hasek about the future.

Hasek had his moments, and I was far from being a supporter at the start of the season. But he did have one heck of a year, and I think it would be a good thing to get him back for one more year. It will be interesting to see what moves are made in the off season.

The Wings want him back because there is no better option out there in the UFA's, and Dom isn't likely to command a ransom for a salary helping the Wings to sign new players to replace those they lose to FA.

Here's to Dom returning for next season...cheers.

I don't think I'd mind it. Our loss to the Ducks was not Dom's fault IMO.

Dom will be back.

We will execute a much stricter 2 headed goaltending tandem during next years regular season. Something similar to the Ozzie/Vernon days of 96-97. Barring any injuries, expect to see Ozzie and Dom each play 40-41 games. But come postseason as long as he's healthy, we know who the starter is.;):)

It's a great move again. He gives you a chance to win any 7 game series, and he comes at an affordable price. He'll have incentives in his contract (he just picked up 900 grand for taking us to the Conference Finals and that counts on next year's Cap) for the postseason, but initially he comes way cheaper than what else is out there. Jiggy is a UFA but he's gonna get retarded money. Off the top of my head, I would have to guess that we got around 14 to 18 million of Cap room. He wouldn't ever sign in Detroit anyway, not unless Babcock was fired.;):tdo12: I believe the other goaltending pickings are slim, but I haven't seen a full UFA list yet.

Yeah, the early exit was not Dom's Fault. That was the fault of bad puck handling, defence breakdown, hurt key players, and travel. You could really make excuses for just about everything. The only thing to do now is to start preparing for OCT!!!! Let's go Wing's

Hasek certainly played good enough in the playoffs to win. The question is can he stay healthy for another year.

I agree Steve. Losing our key defensemen really hurt the wings. I must say that I thought Quincey did pretty well given his level of experience.

Yeah, the early exit was not Dom's Fault.

I, for one, do not consider the Western Conference finals an early exit.

Way to go boys! Thanks for an exciting season.

Dominik Hasek (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/260/)'s agent Rich Winter confirmed Monday that the Detroit Red Wings (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/det/)' goaltender has made his decision about his future with the team, but he wanted to inform Wings management first.
Winter, who was decidedly upbeat in discussing Hasek's plans, hinted that the 42-year-old is coming back. An announcement is expected in the next day or two.

I think the Wings got extremely lucky that Hasek made it through the whole season without getting hurt,,, if they roll the dice again,,, you can bet he'll be "splitting" time with someone.
