Power Trim Prob on 1976 Mercruiser

I have a 1976 Mercruiser, 165 HP, I am having a problem with the tilt/trim. The Pump is working, and pushing fluid pretty strong. The tilt is stuck in the up position, when I push the Down button the pump runs but nothing happens, Even though the tilt is stuck up It seems to move a little when I push the Up button... Not quite sure whats going on there... Does anyone have any suggestions?

Is this becouse the drive has been up all winter?If so have someone stand on the drive when you push the button down I have had this happen before

Yahh, It has actually been sitting for a few years.... I tries pushing on the stern while I was pushing the down button, but not that hard.. I will try to put a little weight into it... Thanks I will try it.....

This isn't meant as an insult, but sometimes the simplest things are overlooked. Are the trailer dogs up?

Apparently this is nothing new. I had this happen with my OMC a while back.
They provide a manual release to lower the unit.
Locate this and back off on the screw and it should allow it to come down, do it slowly so it doesn't drop too fast.
Mine was also stored for a while, once lowered it was working normal again.
