Getting ready to leave pretty soon to head down to the Joe. 5th row from the ice. Big game today. I take it as my responsibility to get that crowd a rockin'! I'll do my best to rally the troops. Oh, wait, what the heck am I sayin!? Err, I mean......
There is absolutely NO WAY that the Detroit Red Wings could possibly win this game 5 today whatsoever! I can GAURENTEE that the Anaheim Ducks will win todays game 5. In fact, I am so sure that Detroit will lose, that I'm leaving a little early to stop by my bookies house to place another 100$ bet on the Ducks victory. Easy money in my pocket. No way on God's green Earth that I could possibly be wrong and lose my bet on this one! Easy money, like taking candy from a baby. And this time, the hockey gods know that there is nothing they can do to prove me wrong!:cheeky-sm

Just about a half hour until puck drop. Should be a good game. I just hope that the Wings come out and score first and don't have to play catch-up hockey the whole game.
GO WINGS!

That was the most bonehead play I have seen all series. I know pee-wee hockey players that wouldn't have done that. I can't believe how disappointed I am right now.

back in the day,we'd have to do a s__tload of wind sprints if we even brought the puck in front of the net,not to mention giving it away and letting a goal get scored out of it
goal line-blue line,goal line-red line,goal line-blue line,goal line-goal line
aaaggghhh!! I can still feel the agony....

I pretty much agree.
They dominated the game and then had one fluke goal send it into overtime and a stupid giveaway cost them the game. I think this took the wind out of the Wings sails. Time will tell and I hope to be proven wrong.

I can't believe how depressed I am. But I've got to stay positive and optimistic. Look at the situation though. The Wings dominated the entire game and held the Ducks to a shutout until :40 to go in the third. That goal was a complete fluke and yes it did send the game into overtime. A bonehead move cost us the game. But these teams are both very talented and closely matched. We've already been to Anaheim and beaten them there this series. The Wings are completely CAPABLE of doing it again! If they do win game six, the Ducks are in exactly the same situation we are in now and have to play a road game. We'll be coming back to the friendly confines of the Joe and have the crowd on our side. It looks bleak now folks but DON'T GIVE UP YET!!!!
GO WINGS !!!

Heartbroken. That is the best way to explain my feelings. The Wings deserved to win that game. I agree with what Neil Duffey said though, on being proud that they made it this far. They weren't supposed to be successful this year. But you know what that is enough doom and gloom from me. They have been the better team this series. They will win this series. That's right! They're gonna win!
Let's go Red Wings!

Cheer up fellas! The Tigers swept the Cardnals this weekend and the Pistons start the Eastern conference finals tonight! And if the Wing's win game 6, the pressure is surely back on the Ducks.

Only the second Wings game I made it to this year. Fantastic seats and I took my wife and my oldest daughter - her first game ever.
We had a great time and were really pumped until about 47 seconds left in regulation.
Oh well, they are not out yet.
And I have Tiger tickets for Thursday ;) :)

Come on now! Who expected anything less than a seven game series anyway? The way the Wings have been out playing the Ducks it should be over already! Game seven is gonna ROCK!

I hate to bring it up, but how can anyone expect to win playoff games when the ONLY player to score is like your #7 defensemen, who is expected to play defense first and only? Shouldn't some of the blame for the loss go with some of those high priced guys up front who get paid to put the puck in the net? Remember Lilja is only in the games due to injuries to others. He made a fantastic shot block that we may find out actually broke his foot. Yeah, he coughed it up & it ended up in the back of our net. Who was supposed to be covering Salanne? The game never should have made it that far.

I kinda agree.
That whole sequence of events coulda been disasterous for the Ducks as well,, sending 2 guys in that deep to forecheck, especially in OT is a risky proposition(one of the Wings on the ice shoulda noticed that and hung back to help a little more). Lilja gets that puck out and it's almost a 5 on 3 the other way. It was just "one of those plays", This whole series has been kinda backwards anyway,,, with the exception of the blowout,, the better team on the ice has lost the game.

Selanne was forechecking, so no one really. Lilja was the last man back, and was supposed to move the puck up to start the next rush, but he coughed it up bad. That mistake did lose us the game there's no denying it. Would the Wings have scored, or the Ducks? No one knows, but Lilja did put us to bed.
I've been ok with the other 2 losses this series, the Ducks just plain capitalized on their chances and/or outplayed us, but Detroit lost this one for themselves. The Duck's didn't win, the Wings lost, simple as that. Ducks should feel very, very fortunate to come out with that win, but that doesn't bring the Wings any solace, they're the ones facing elimination when they should be closing the series.

For most of the game, I thought they were slow and lazy. Maybe just tired would be the correct term. They just lacked a lot of effort and handled the puck quite sloppy, IMO.

Exactly! I have complete faith that this will go to a game 7. And in closeout games, I'll take the Wings. I believe they will win this series, and the best part is, that when they do, they will have faced tougher teams than anybody in the Eastern Conference.

Unfortunately, I was there and seen the turnover coming. I was in the 3rd row, and that play happened right in front of me. Lebda was there to the left, he was the outlet. He crossed with him, and plain as day you could hear him, "There comin Lils, there comin, right here right here". The moment Selanne caught him from behind and whacked him, we seen the 2 comin in droolin. Lils got sloppy and comin around the right post he tried to stickhandle one handed. As soon as I seen him look right, I could feel it, this is gonna go bad. Sure enough, instead of the perimeter play on the left breakout, he looked to try to move the puck to the right. Why, nowone knows. It was a huge blunder, and one of the biggest bonehead decisions in the history of Detroit postseasons. Larry Bird comes to mind among others. What do you expect? He's a 32 year old journey man who's been overachieving until this point. He's not a good player. Sure, he has played well at times, but you can't run from your shadow. Even a broken watch is right twice a day. The decision was so bad, Dom was (initially) still on the left post, he knew the valve was left. Oops.
What I find interesting that is flying under the radar is the phantom interference call. None of this would've happened, if it hadn't have been for a terrible call. How can you put someone on a 6 on 4 when Dats bumps a guy with his shoulder. That was the first interference called since the Calgary series. It's the least called postseason penalty besides Fighting Major. There is way worse stuff going on out there than that. If Dats would've slaughtered the guy, that would've been different, hey a no BS penalty is a no BS penalty. But they bumped each other. Their both battling for a loose puck. Everybody wanted it out there. Guys were playing desperate everywhere. Their supposed to, it's game 5 of a Conference Finals. And to make a call like that, to give someone a 2 man advantage, is just mind boggling. It's a joke. That's why the NHL and it's ratings are a joke. Niedermayer never scores the tying goal. Why? Cuz the 5th defender is there in the spot where Nick was trying to cover, and Nick is back there taking away that back door. Awful call, awful way to decide the balance of a contest.:mad::rant:

Oh, almost forgot. Lils sure is good at breakin a stick though. Boy he shattered that sucker to smithereens over his right knee. I'll never forget the look on his face. He glided right by us with a look, I can't even put into words. Dom flashed him one hell of a look to boy. Dom peered back towards us and went straight to the room, that glare he threw toward Lils.......whew that didn't look good.

Have you notice now that Micky isnt calling the wings game, these vs announcers never mention all the turnovers...I mean inside the (our) blue-line? Red wings turn it over at least 10 times a period and thats a generous number.Dom has played outstanding most nights, but it is a team sport . One of those inside the blue-line turnovers did lead to the winning goal in game 5. There has been to many to count in this series. Im  @ how many....as Mick also says its not a game for a nervous person, I couldnt agree more man.LETS GO RED WINGS, LETS KICK SOME DUCK @$$. Finish every check. We need to score 1st, to take the crowd out...Wings win 4-2, with an exceptional display of talent and strength.
