Well we had an experience today, while starting the motor, the recoil broke, rope is stuck out...now I potentially might need an outboard mechanic to take a look at it...any places on the est side that carries Yammy parts, I am assuming I might need a new assembly, have not taken it apart to take a look...thanks again!

You can replace the spring only. But it is much simplier to buy the whole assembely. I am not sure where a Yamaha Marine Store is by you sorry though.

In my experience a recoil spring is a royal pain in the $#& to put in, but easy enough to do yourself. Should be an easy part to find.

But before you go out and buy a new assembly or a new spring be sure to take it apart. You never know, the rope might have twisted or bound up and that is keeping it from going back in. You might also have a bolt or nut loose and that is causing it to bind up.

Well got things apart yesterday...seems like a simple fix, the spring on the rope return seems to be loose and broken...when I popped off the starter the rope went right back in...so a simple 1.47 part was the cause of the issues, now if I only did not have to wait 3 days to get it! stupid springs!!!!
