The Bays are filling fast with nice sized cohos, many limits have been caught lately. At this time it is a small boat fishery, and they are dredging out the river mouth. From the mouth to the launch you pretty much have to pull your boat up and down, but not a big problem. If you have ever fished Platte bay the fish are pretty much in the normal spots and seem to be hitting all kinds of lures at any given time. One more thing, the Platte River below the lower weir on Lake Michigan Avenue is closed until Oct 14.

You know our problem is we work too much. This has really got to stop for both of us. Stop by here at work and we'll set something up.

Things are really beginning to heat up in Platte Bay, I wouldn't be surprised if the first major run starts sometime this week due to the rain, lots of rain up here lately, and the weather is suppossed to cool down a little also. So if you like to surf fish, this may be your first opportunity to do so. I am planning to go fishing Thursday, and I'll let all know whats up then. Even though I will be using my small boat, I'll be able to tell if the surf fishing is happening or not.

Hey bill! I heard a nasty rumor that the coho only run strong for a week or so in the Betsie! Is that true?

Yeah thats true, the betsie doesn't get much in the way of cohos. Although last nite I saw more cohos in the Betsie Bay then ever before. Small ones at that. Betsie is mainly a king fishery, and later a pretty good steel fishery. The best steel fishery in the Betsie is in the spring for some reason.
