Keys:
1) tough defense. Like the Bulls game 6.

2) DO NOT let up on them. No repeat of the Bulls games 4 and 5

3) "Sheed. Keep your head in the game on O and D. Yes you get fouls and the refs will call them

4) points in the paint...points in the paint....points in the paint

5) Lebron is bound to have good games. Do not let it worry you. Its OK if he scores 45 points in a game. If he hits for 45 and his team mates score a total of 45 thats 90 points. Thats fine, all we have to do is score 91 points.

Cavs are good, but, they aren't as good as the Pistons or the Bulls. I think this will be a 5 gamer as long as they don't let up the intesity ala chicago games 4 and 5.

79-76 Stones in game 1, but they better get their heads out of their butts (except for Rip) because they will not hold Lebron to 10 points again. It was a very ugly win, but a W is a W.

Boring game, Boring!!! 'Stones gonna come out with that type of game again and the Cavs will kick their ***'s. It looked like the stones were gonna hand this one over to the Cavs so we could run this to a 7 game series. You gotta put them away when they play like that or we'll be in for another long series. We should have won that game buy like 20 points, easy!!!

Exactly,,, I had to turn it off. I can't handle watching that crap,, or any Eastern Conf. team for that matter. They look like crappy high school teams.
The Stone's do have one thing in their favor though,,,, Lebron just "doesn't get it",, yet,, anyway. It's almost like he doesn't wanna be considered a "ball hog" out there. That dude should be taking over games like Jordan,,, especially last night.

Yeah, I would have like to see the Suns in the finals, Stones would have had an easy time with them. The Mavs are really not that interesting to watch after one quarter, unless you like seeing Mark Cuban another 100 times.

See i dont mind east conf. ball at all. I like teams that have an idea of what defence is and can turn it on to win games. I get just as bored with a suns vs mavs game when it goes 128-125. I just happen to believe that defence IS part of the game. And i enjoy a good defensive team turn up the heat and take control of the game. Defence does win championships and the top teams can play D. Why do you think that it looks like another Spurs vs
Stones finals this year? Cause BOTH teams play excellent D. Personally
I think the Suns or Mavs would be a much easyer finals for us than the spurs. The suns NEVER scared me in the least. Put some D pressure on the suns and it takes them out for their game.
The trouble with that stones game was that it looked uninspired, like neither team had energy or wanted to win. I think it might of been a better
game if Lebron was hot and hit for 30 points .That would have forced the stones to get into the game and play some A ball. When Ilgaukis(sp?) is
their leading scorer and Lebron only scores 10 then the Cavs dont stand a chance.
As for Lebron, I wonder if the stones were maybe in his head? I mean he's a freak for sure but he looked really uninspired, tentative and was passing to much. He dosent have the team around him to be a passer. He needs to be a scorer first, passer second.

One observation from last night. I really liked the way the Refs called the game. Or rather didnt call the game. There was two times when they could have called fouls against us. one, when Lebron was on a fastbreak and Rip was all over him. The second when Lebron was driving the lane and Tay and Sheed were all over him. Two non calls that Lebron normally gets. I liked that!!!!

Yes sir, the NBA lost all of their luster when~

1.) Golden State was eliminated by Utah, I mean those guys are fun to watch, rarely take more than 10 off the shot clock, shoot three's from everywhere, streetball passes...I mean at least it's fun to watch.

2.)When PHX was eliminated by the Spurs and especially after the suspensions to Amare and Diaw...

Spurs and Pistons was the least viewed Finals, I bet they are even worse this year, boring *** basketball, but it wins!

yeah it was pretty ugly, but it's a win :D
ever notice that EVERY single time leron misses a shot he cries for a foul to be called??
yeah there was contact on that last play, but that will never get called that late in a game, especially a playoff game, Rip played good defense and lebron tried to spin and force the shot and was out of control.

To many turn-overs (same as first game).

Prince 1-11 in the first game and 0-8 in the second, ouch! However, he did a good job covering James.

It would be nice to see a few guys get hot so we can at least spank them good once and show them what were really capable of.

The Cavs have got to be wondering what will it take to win, IF they can win. We just had two bad games and won them both. Tay's not hitting anything, Dice isnt hitting and Chauncey is off of his game as well. And still the Cavs lost both! If we put it all together, the Cavs wouldnt have any hope at all. Lebron is not able to put up enough to win and as it happens in
most cases, when push comes to shove, Lebron Chokes. He's not the player you want to have when the game is on the line. he just cant finish.
Was a debate on ESPN it think it was, that talked about the "money" players in the NBA, the ones who you can count on in the clutch, when the game is on the line. Lebron was way,way down the list. He seems to shrink when his team needs him the most.
Hats off to Maxiell. He played like a monster last night!!!!

C Webb had some shining moments. For his price (I want to say $600K for the season) he is probably worth more than any other Piston.

If you tell Sheed to put up or shut up, he puts up, Man. He could easily be one of the 10 best players in the NBA if he came to work every single game. And when he thinks he got a bad call, watch out! Sheeeeeeeeeeeed.

Actually they have played like crap both games. The scary side is that the Cavs lost both. Just think about how bad it would get if the stones were firing on all cylinders!!! Could be looking at 105-73 scores!!!
Im thinking they will lose one of these games in Cleveland and that will be the point in which they turn it on and finish this in Pistons style.
They always play better after they get there butts kicked!!!

Billy B.- If the pistons win the title this year are you gonna moan and groan and bitch cause they won it all in boring sytle? When i go to the Palace to watch the games, the championship banners hanging from the rafters dont mention if they won that year with offense or defense.

I think the Pistons are bored. With the exception of Lebron and Sideshow Bob, I think the Cav's are a pretty weak basketball team and the Pistons have played 2 very incomplete games with Chauncy not really lighting things up until late in the game and Prince pretty much non-existant. You'll see the Piston's in 5 games I think, and then on to beat San Antonio......

I actually agree with you on that one. That was just really bad offense on both teams. I mean, good defense, but, their offenses have been horrible. Rip played great defense on that last play. There was some contact, but, certainly not enough to get a call, espessially on a possible GW play during the playoffs.

The Mavs are choke artists and the Suns will likely never win a championship. The Suns overall talent and style of play is dominant vs. most teams. However, when they meet teams like the Spurs and Pistons(i think Utah would've beat them too) they will lose EVERY time. Now, i know this year they probably should've won, but, i still think they would've lost.

Pistons vs. Spurs the first time brought us the first 7 game thriller in a LONG time. Who cares if the ratings were low, it was the best finals series in a long time for those who watched it. Game 5 may have been the best game ever. You are not a fan of the NBA if you miss that series.....

Yes. Notice that every team still in the playoffs do play some form of D.
The spurs and stones playing perhaps the best. But the Jazz and Cavs can play it to.
The run and gun teams are all gone. No Suns, no Warriors, Why you ask?
They dont play D. Look for a boring old Spurs vs Stones finals with the winner hoisting another boring "World Championship" banner from the rafters

I'd rather play the Warriors,Mavs,Suns in the finals than the Spurs. Spurs like the Stones are to well rounded. Those other western teams are all to one sided and all easy to beat. Alittle D and they crumble!!!

Prince finally shows up and scores, C Webb has a good first qtr., then
their help defense disapears, Lebron got to the hole way to easy, way to many times, now he has some confidence, he won't be having any more
scoreless second halfs.
The key to the pistons is Chauncy and Hamilton, they both have to get going, and get it going BIG TIME!. They are at their best when one of those
two take over a game. Without these two going the pistons are in big trouble.. Bored or not, they need to step it up..they get paid way to much
$$$$$ to be bored in the conference finals!!!!!!

Hmmmmm. I wonder just what is up with the stones? I cant believe that the Cavs are really good enough to keep up with the stones. Is Lebron in their heads? Being a stones fan i gotta pull for my boyz but as a realist i think its 50/50 right now. We have 2 games in our crib and one in theirs.
But they have the momentum.

Even if we do get past the Cavs I got this feeling that we are gonna be gassed in doing so. So we'll get to play the Spurs when we are tired. Kind of like a repeat of last year!!!

Whens football season?

Sleepwalking through 3 qtrs, is no way to play. They seem to think they have this magic switch and they can "turn it on" whenever they want.
Teams aren't intimidated by them anymore, like it or not, Ben Wallace
was the intimidator for them in the middle, without him they are soft.
Chauncy needs to focus up and play, Prince is tired from trying to stop LeBron, Rip looks tired, he's not running around the court like a madman like usual, Webber is just old, his legs and back are shot, and Rasheed just needs to shut up and play ball......That technical foul he had last night
with 4 for 5 minutes left and we were down by 4? Yeah that's nice!!!!!
And who does Cleveland have to fear off of our bench? ummmmmm NO ONE...
I honestly think this series is going to be won by Cleveland now, Lebron is on a roll, and that confidence is spreading to his other players. They have all the momentum.
If Detroit doesn manage to squeeze out a win, it won't matter San antonio
will kill them.

We have to remember that this is Cleveland!! That city hasn't won anything in 60 years and they are not going to start now. I just don't buy that the Pistons can play so well and then go in the tank. . .it is all about $$$ for the NBA and them trying to get a new Poster child. I'm still trying to figure out a couple of the calls at the end? And when can a rookie get the "Reggie Miller leg kick" call?

The Stones will not have any HOT games with Billups playing this way. He is the MVP of this team (not the most talented, just the most valuable) and he is my best barometer on how they go. 22 TOs in 4 games?! Way to play for a new contract, too :dizzy:

I just googled the Pistons playoff stats for this year.:dizzy: They don't do "anything",,,, they don't block shots, don't rebound real well, don't shoot real well, very few steals,,,,,, I'm wondering how they won any playoff games at all. The only thing that stood out was their 3 pt. %,,,,, almost 40%. Their not palying the same way that got them in to playoffs in the first place. They remind me of how the Wings used to play during the playoffs years ago.

the first two games could easily have gone Cleveland's way.

Or the last two could have easily gone the Piston's way.

IMHO, when the Pistons have a lot of movement in their offence they score easily and are active on the defensive side. Then like a light switch, the movement stops and they all turn into chuckers forcing up jump shots after a pass or two. A couple flashes of greatness last night were squashed by Billups trying for a quick pull up 3 with only having 3 seconds off the shot clock trying to close the door on the Cavs.

I'd never thought i would say it, but, Billups actually lost them the game yesterday. I mean, it is so weird actually watching him making bad decisions, that ended up costing them the game. They were coming back, playing awesome D, and they had an awesome opprotunity to come back and steal one. Chauncey turned it over a took a horrible 3 pointer, and they lossed.

I think Billups will come back and have a monster game and i think Rip will also have a huge game. The piston's backcourt is MUCH better than Clevelands, for some reason, they struggle vs. them. I think they will come out a dominate and win by double digits.

The shots Lebron made were incredible. Having said that, it is clear who the NBA wants in the Finals. it isn't Detroit. Even though I probably won't watch it, the Spurs will sweep the Cavs and it will be the biggest joke in NBA Final history.

Every one enjoying the coming out party? Lebron just stepped throught the door and became a legit SUPERSTAR in the last 3 games. That is how you take over a game...amazing.

You just cant stop those fade-away shots by Labron but they should of been able to close the lane down better and stop some of his drives. Lets see, closing minute of the game, Cleveland has a bunch of second stringers in there, Labron has been driving the basket and getting through all night, and they didnt even double cover him and then left the lane open AGAIN? They need to watch some tapes on how Cleveland closed the lane down against Billups and learn something from it.

Billups didnt play great but he played good and did sink the game tying 3 point bucket that took us into overtime, its some of the other guys that need to step up to the plate like Prince who hasnt done squat in this series.

Labron showed that he was a star last night but its the stones fault that he became a shinning star. Knowone should be able to penatrate the basket like that, I dont care how good they are. As for the longer shos, I give him a shinning star for those.

,,,,The Stone's do have one thing in their favor though,,,, Lebron just "doesn't get it",, yet,, anyway. It's almost like he doesn't wanna be considered a "ball hog" out there. That dude should be taking over games like Jordan,,, especially last night.

This was my post after game one.

I think Lebron, "get's it",, now. ,,,, OMG,, that was amazing:lol:

That game was lost by Flip Saunders. Period, end of discussion. Lebron scored all but ONE of the Cav's points in the 4th and the overtimes. THEY DON'T HAVE ANYONE ELSE WORTH A DAMM!!!

Double team Lebron every time he touches the ball, run the offense the Pistons are known for, curl Rip and Prince down low around screens, dish out for the three when that's not open, eliminate the slopping passing, simplify.

I hated Larry Brown, but you better believe they would not have lost that game last night had he been on the bench.

Lebron is great, that may have been one of the best performances I've seen since Jordan, but sometimes you need to level the guy and make the rest of the team beat you.

I agree 100% that Flip Saunders was asleep. Why weren't they double teaming Lebron? Why wasn't he yelling at his guys to do something...ANYTHING...to interfere with Lebron's dominance? It was like teh Pistons were thinking "we just can't stop him" and then sitting back as he imposed his will. James' 3 point shots were amazing but his drives should have been stopped or he should have been fouled. Terrible, terrible coaching. I think Joe D has to analyze whether Flip is a championship coach.

However, the game changed when McDyess was ejected. It was a stupid play that completely changed teh rhthym of the game.

Chauncey Billups was a no show in so many ways. He commited so many stupid give aways and when he would make flop plays he had that stupid Chauncey grin. Yeah, Chauncey, we get it. You guys think you're gonna win. It's under control. You are in control of the game. Keep thinking those thoughts as you keep making lousy passes and missing free throws.

I agree with the TNT guys. Detroit took Cleveland for granted. It's no different than the Pistons getting by D Wade in 2005 and then having D Wade spank them in 2006. The same thing is going on with Lebron James. The Pistons seem to think "we handled this last year. No big deal." Well, a guy single handedly scoring EVERY point for their team in the last 20 minutes of a game and in two overtimes is a very big deal.

How about the Palace crowd? It seemed more asleep than Flip Saunders. Where was the home crowd energy to fire up the team. In teh last minutes when people should have been cheering their team on, people were literally
sitting there biting their nails.

Oh well. The Pistons get to start their summer on Sunday. GUARANSHEED!

Agree 100%. How do you just let the guy get his shots for almost 2 quarters. From the 4th and into both overtimes all we had to do was put 2 bodies on him. If two didnt do it you put 3 one him. Until he passes off and someone else starts hitting shots. Is it that FREAKIN hard to know that Lebron was gonna get the ball? Who else do they have in key moments that are gonna beat us? Sanjaya Varijoe? No, its Lebron I knew it, you knew it, the fans knew it, why didnt Flip know it? Matter of fact i didnt see him make any changes during the whole playoffs that made any difference?
I think the stones helped Lebron win this game as much as Lebron did himself. If i was coaching at that time i would have told Maxiell that when he came into the paint, you knock him on his axx. When Max. fouls out you have Dale Davis knock him on his axx... and so on til he either gets the message or loses the game because he is not a good free throw shooter.
But you NEVER let him take control for a game like that. The Dice ejection hurt but it was the correct call. Dice didnt do it on purpose but you cant horse collar a guy driving to the rack!!! Besides with like 3 min. left in the 4th qtr we were up by 7 points. We neded to man up on Lebron for 3 minutes, and hit a couple of our shots down the strech and its a stones win.
But is ive stated, regardless who won this series is gonna get creamed by the Spurs. Those guys have just put it all together and are firing on all cylinders.

Look for Joe D. to make some major moves this summer. Im seeing Webb
moving on and at least on other starter gone. Its either that or the 2 1st round draft picks we get better be some quality, ready to play, players.
Even giving Flip the boot will be looked at by Joe.

I agree 100%. I'm no coach but what I have to wonder is like you said, look at the points LeBron scored in the 4th and OT's. Am I missing something like double or triple team him and MAKE someone else beat you? Without LeBron, the Cavs are at best a .500 team and there is no way that this series should be in this position  . I've been skeptical of Flip being the guy to take them all the way since his performance in his Timberwolves days...there was a reason he was let go when he couldn't take some pretty good T-wolves teams all the way but I figured give the guy a chance and it's looking like it's the same show all over again. Please Flip...prove me wrong.

Great points that I would reiterate! I'm also sick of Billiup's attitude when he makes stupid plays and plays it off as if nothing significant just happened. Isn't he an UFA after this season? Could this be the end of the road for #1 after this dismal playoff performance? Are there other quality point guards that will be available this soon-to-be offseason?

The Palace crowd is a joke. I've been to several games this season and the majority of the "fans" are basically upper-class suburbanite yuppies that really are only there for the party atmosphere. They really don't care how the teams does one way or another. I'm really upset right now, that's all I'm typing for now!

They did double him or even triple him...but why have Billups guarding him??? That didn't make sense to me, Tay and Rip both could at least slow him down.

Also, we are seeing how much Ben meant to this team....no way Bron gets those 2 GT dunks and GW layup with big ben clogging the middle. Plus, they just don't have that edge they use to have. They have the talent and experience, but, without the edge, they won't win a championship.

With that being said, we have seen this before, they have come through it before. The question is, do they still have what it takes??? Without Ben, and a few players(Sheed, C-webb, even Billups) aging and looking maybe tired and wore out, will they still have that competitive edge that made them what they are???

I say....they win game 6....they win it all. They can matchup to the Spurs and i think they can take them. The cavs can't and will be swept in dominant fashion.

Hey man, you shouldnt bust Kevins chops like that. You have to understand that he's a die hard Detroit loins fan... What that means is that when a team like the Stones make the playoffs their brains stop working, Cause they(loins fans) dont know what to think when a team makes the playoffs:lol:

Well that was the most disappointing end to a season that ive ever seen.
Losing in 6 to the Cavs. Not even really losing to Lebron since he was a non factor when the Cavs started to take control. Gibson, Sanjaya Varijoe, Ilgulkis, and other NO NAMES beat us today. And to think, the no names that beat us today are gonna get creamed by the Spurs. What does that say about what direction the stones are heading? Fellas its time for a couple of changes. Least we wont get smoked by the Spurs.

I've been saying Spurs sweep, but, James won't let them go down like that. They will at least win one. However, i have a gut feeling the Cavs have a chance, you could see it in their eyes, they're on a mission. My gut is saying Cavs in 6...and, what the hell, that is my prediction....:yikes:

See, i wouldn't really call the Spurs a dynasty. Because, they basically won 3 with all different core players. I think in order to be consider a dynasty, you have to have the same core players in all your championships or conf. finals. Pistons are considered a semi-dynasty because they did it with the same basic core players and did it consistently for 5 strait years. Spurs basically every other year wins a championship, but, ever other year fall in the 2nd round. Deffnently an great team over the past 9 years, best winning % in the regular season, 3 championships, 3-0 in the finals, and so on. So the Spurs franchise is probably among the best in sports...

The Spurs core has remained unchanged. It is Tim Duncan. He can score, rebound, block shot and play a tredmendous defense. When none of that is working for him, he becomes as good a playmaker as most point guards in the league. He is truly one of the greats as he makes everyone around him better. Probably only Jordan did it as well or better.

:yeahthat: 100%
Truely the best franchise in Pro sports when comparing all factors. On the same level as the N.E. Pats of the NFL. The Spurs also are not quite done yet either. I see them having a couple of good years to come yet. Tim D. is getting older but with his talent and attitude i see him lasting thru a few more finals!! The mix of players that they have and seem to get also keeps them on top.
Speaking of franchises, our own Pistons are at the elite also when comparing top teams in all sports. Factoring in several areas, Titles, attendance, ownership, etc. According to ESPN Magazine.
Also, i dont think our run is over yet! A tweak here and real center there
Perhaps a coach who can get a team thru the playoffs and one who can
think out of the box?

Sort of agree, sort of don't. Yes, the no names beat us, but it was because Lebron was constantly drawing the double and triple team. Gibson wasn't just open, he was waaayyyy open. Give any decent 3 shooter that kind of space and time and your in trouble.
