Only a month or so into the season, and the Tigs are in 1st place, but after reading an article on ESPN.com about the Brewers, I got to thinking. The parallels between the Brewers of this year and the Tigers of last year are remarkable. Losing team for the better part of two decades, no real "superstars" (but many solid players including a pitching staff that is exceeding expectations), and in a division that produced the previous year's WS champion so not too many people expected too much (although I believe Peter Gammons picked the Beer-makers this year).
Anyhow, the last line in the article mentioned that the fans of Milwaukee don't necessarily want 14 straight division titles (referring to the manager Ned Yost who was previously on the Braves staff), they'd settle for one. I would have agreed with that same sentiment last year for the Tigs, but as we all know, the Tigs excelled last year and are off to a pretty good start this year, thus raising expectations.
Which got me thinking: would I be satisfied with the just the one WS appearance last year? How dissappointed would I be if they fall short this year? Next year? How about you guys and gals? Just curious, really.

You know, i'd rather have the bar set high than no expectations at all. I think I'll be dissapointed if they don't at least make an appearance as a Wildcard, but at the same time, all I ask for is to be watching meaningfull Tigers games well into late September. From what I've seen, this team may be better than last year, if we can stay consistant.
I still believe the Tigers best baseball is yet to come, and even though they dropped 3 of 4 against the Sox, they were in 3 outta the 4 until the 9th and to me that is impressive. The BoSox are by far the best team in baseball.

i wouldn't compare Milwaukee to last years tigers....eventually the brewers will fall...the tigers did it in a division that ended up with 3 90 game winners, and IMO the best division in baseball....the brewers are playing and, again its just my opinion, the worst divison in baseball....they are the only team above .500, houston is right at .500 and everyone else is below...as for your question....i would like them to at least make the playoffs, if thats as the wildcard again, then so be it, but like i said, the AL central IMO is the toughest in the league, and a 90+ win season and no playoff appearance is very possible

I think its a reach to compare the Brewers to last years Tigers. First the NL Central isn't near the division the AL Central is. Second, the Brewers pitching isn't near the Tigers was last year. Capuano is very underrated and an ace on most staffs. Sheets is a stud but can't stay healthy. After that you've got a bunch of 4 or 5 starters at best.
The Brewers are out to a hot start more becuase of a weak division than strong pitching.
That said I like the Brewers and picked them to win the NL Central, but I do not think they are the same caliber team the Tigers were last year.
