The use of the word "option" in your thread implys that they have a choise:lol:
When it comes to losing, the loins simply are the best there is.
A far better "option" would be for the loins to be sent packing to another city. I hear that L.A. is looking for a team. An expansion team in Detroit would have a far better chance to win than the sad sack bunch of losers that have been running(down) the team for 40+ years. Im speaking of ownership/Management, not players per sey.
or option #2 would be for the NFL to enact some kind of mercy rule and
make the fords sell the team, in the best interest of the fans in the Detroit
market!!!! NFL...Have Mercy on the people of the "D"

Yeah, but what about us poor dumb ****'s that actually are life-long Detroit Lion fans? Somehow, a new team called the Detroit Vandals or Detroit Crackheads, just doesn't have the same enthusiasm.
"So, Coach of the Crackheads...how can you explain why you're a perfect 8-0 at home?"
"Well, teams gotta watch out when they come to the Crackhouse! This is our turf!"

It's worse than you think: Now my almost four-year old sons have taken to saying, "Go Lions!" and waving my Lions car flag around.
"Hi...my name's Steve and I've spawned little Lions fans."

Man i wouldnt go letting that be public knowledge. The state could take your kids from you for several reasons. Cruel and unusual punishment, unfit parent, bad parenting, im sure the state could come up with a dozen or so
more.
Realize this, your sons are in for 40 hopeless years!!! But you can stop them. They're still young. They have a chance to get off the crack.
Dude, you can save them from decades of punishment!!! Your hopeless, bit you can act now for your kids sake!!!!

Hi! My name is Joe.... and I am a Loins fan!
There I said it! Feel better?
Truth be told I am a football fan. Given the choice, most days I'd probably opt for watching the Lions lose over watching the Tigers win.
I think that if Thousandcasts and I are still alive and getting around without walkers or seeing-eye-dogs if Detroit ever makes the play offs; everyone here should pitch in and buy him and I tickets and air fare to see all the games.
Deal, or no deal?

There's no "probably" about it for me--I love my football and that includes my Lions. As much as I get PO'd and say, "I'm done," Sunday's during the fall are "game days" and that means I don't leave the house.
All the other sports are just...there, as far as I'm concerned.

TC and JA: While I like you guys, and normally respect your posts, YOU ARE THE REASON THE LIONS SUCK SO BADLY. If nobody watched, and nobody bought tickets, and nobody bought accessories, the ownership would be forced to put together a team that could win, so they could sell tix, and airtime, and clothing. Pro sports is not about winning, per se. It is about business, and as long as business is profitable, the Fords don't have to do anything to change. They already have enough money, right?
Man, the Pats are looking good again this year.
Heck I don't really care about pro football anyhow - probably because I have never been able to really root for my hometown team in my 47 years. I am a MICHIGAN football fan, and that works great most years.

I think the Ford's are clueless, but they're not afraid to spend money in the effort to put a winning team on the field. That hasn't been an issue. The issue has been who's evaluating the talent and where the money's getting spent. This isn't like the Tigers of the past 10 years where Illitch would not spend a dime trying to secure decent talent, the Ford's continually pay the big bucks, but it's where they're paying it that is the biggest question. God willing, they're finally getting something in place that might actually be a good thing. Who knows? What was our biggest gripe 10 years ago? The Lions can make the playoffs, but can't get past the first round. Now, getting back to that level would be considered progress. They tried to get to that next level with Ross...didn't work. They cleaned house and thought they were bringing in a young mind with a football passion in Millen...hasn't worked. They keep throwing money at the team, but nothing has worked.
Why would I boycott my team? It's not like the Ford's are throwing interceptions or giving up 80 yard, 6 minute drives to lose on a last second field goal. Should the Ford's sell the team? Maybe. I don't think they're apathetic, I think they're clueless and they listen to the wrong people.
They're (The Lions) are "my" team, so to speak as a fan. As such, I reserve the right to vent, criticize, scream, yell and what not because I've been a fan all along...and season ticket holder before I moved to Grand Rapids. That also means I've got a reserved seat on the band wagon when they actually get good again. :D
However long that might be!
Hi, my name is Paul, and I am a lifelong Lions fan too. I still recall that evening over 40 years ago, when my Dad, who was never a Ford fan said "Ford bought the Lions? They will rust." Truer words have never been spoken, yet it doesn't dissuade me from loving the Lions, it just reinforces my Dads contention that Ford is living proof of the Spare Parts Theory.
There are indeed more horses asses than there are horses.
I wish I could find that quote from Ford where he says he won;t fire Millen because he doesn't want to, and he doesn't have to have a reason because it's his team.

Hi, my name is Paul, and I am a new KISS fan. I still recall that evening over 4 months ago, when Thousandcasts, who is a wiser man than I ever gave him credit for said "KISS is great. They rule." Truer words have never been spoken, and I can't believe I let ignorance of this awesome band dissuade me from loving KISS! It just reinforces the fact that TC is a brilliant man and living proof that KISS fans are superior members of society!
When it comes to all the KISS haters like I used to be, it means there are indeed more horses asses than there are horses.
Hmmm...that was kinda fun!
:yikes:  :help:
Steve,
I might be inclined to agree with you about indigenous fish in "trout" streams.
About Jenny G.
About the Lions.
And a suprising number of other topics. But I will never, I repeat NEVER be convinced that KISS makes anything other than adolescent, latently homo garbage described as entertainment by the misguided. :D

Here are my thoughts about our team and fans. First of all there is only a 8 game season at home. Hasn't been much more for 50 years. So people have a tendency to go to the games more as a lark than a true fan. Also, the opposition will bring people to the game. Supply and demand seems to come into play here. The supply is rare so the demand is high. Our team has picked very high in the draft for years without much results. My reasoning for this is that my grandmother could pick a player out of the first 20 players and come up with a decent pick and do the same in the second round also. It's what happens after that is where we a lacking. When was the last time ( or first) that the lions drafted someone in the lower rounds that paid big dividends? As for the Fords, yes they are clueless about running a football team. But they are owners with a lot of money and are not supposed to be running a team. That's why they hire people to run it for them. And there in lies the problem. I would say a majority of owners know squat about running a team, but are successful because they place someone in charge who does. IMO

Hi...My names Dennis and I have been Lions Free now for many years. How wonderful it is without that pathetic excuse for a football franchise controlling my life. You can become Lions Free too!!! Its difficult I know, but it is getting easier with evert loss, unless you are a true masochist, then theres no hope and you are doomed to forever scream and rant at the t.v., pulling your hair out (should you not be hair deprived) while you watch them fall flat on their faces again and again, or read the sports column describing the latest gaff comitted by the Leagues Biggest Losers, (are you reading this Morningweg?) berating yourself because you just can't let go. Do as thousand are doing, become Lions Free and start looking forward to Sundays again.

For those of us still under the spell of our Lions, Killer has been posting scouting reports on a player per day to go along with some very good coverage from the recent minicamp. Spring is the time for hope, and I am proud (so far) to admit I am on the bandwagon! Go Lions!
