Is there a cost just curious. Everything about this species is expensive. I'm sure it will be worth it for me cause i've yet to catch one. Bought all new lures, line, swivels last year but no luck.
My persistance is fading due to lack of even a hook up!!!

Is there a lot of musky maniacs on this site? if not where?

Thx

Bob this sounds like a great idea. Wish it had been done when I first started Musky fishing. I'm sure it would have speeded up the learning curve. I'll try to make it there, you can always learn something new!

Reelfun - Pretty certain the seminar is free. Might want to check the MOMC website, newsletter for more details.

Mike and Bob are top notch, if you are looking to learn, they are some of the best, and will put fish in your boat.

Don't get discouraged, last year was not a good season to be learning muskie. Even some of the most seasoned anglers were struggling to get fish. On average, the numbers were down, but the size was up a little. Maybe a little more balance with the die off last spring. Not sure, but it was tough, no question.

Alright I'll be there. Hope to pick up some good tips that will start putting muskie in the boat. :fish:

I am heading to LSC from the west side of the state for the first time in June. I've fished muskies all my life, but never LSC. We'll be casting Anchor Bay.

Any suggestions on locations to start?

Also, I posted some musky pics in the photo gallery if anyone needs to get pumped up for the upcoming season!

I'm not much of a caster for LSC muskies but couple of areas you may want to try are around Grassy Island and off the Salt River area.

This event is being held outside and is weather dependent. Its 4:25 p.m. and raining . There is a severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until 10:00 p.m. tonight . We will try to reschedule this for another date if it can't happen tonight. Bob

My son and I attended the muskie seminar and it was simply awesome. We met in the parking lot of Harbor 9 Marina with thunderstorms playing tag all around us. Mike O' Hara showed us one of his boats and explained how to set a boat up for muskie fishing. He explained the differences between a boat rod, a down rod and a board rod. We went over what we should have in the way of rods, reels, lines and terminal tackel. He also showed us how to set up the weights, and the leaders.

Then the rains came and we adjourned to my family room where Bob Wyfelb and his buddy whose name I don't remember went over the various types of lures, where to fish at various time of the year and how to use the solar/lunar tables. They showed us on a chart where to fish in the early season, mid and later summer and fall. These gentleman really know their subject matter and are fanatics about muskie fishing. It's too bad that only three people showed up becasue they had obviously spent a lot of time setting the program up for us beginners. My son and I are definitely going to attend the next meeting of the MOMC on 7/23 at the Bruce Post in St. Clair Shores because all of the major lure makers will be in attendance and you can get some spectecular deals on lures and equipment.

I also attended and would like to thank the MOMC members for sharing their time in getting me up to speed on a few things. Thanks for the offer of the going to your house perchguy. I had intended to head for home but ended up sitting with Mike for about an hour after you guys left and he tried to share as much info as he could. I learned quite a few things not only about muskie but fishing LSC in general. I have definitely only been looking at half the picture.

I'm sorry the rains came. I was looking forward to learning all I could about musky fishing. Perchguy (Ed) was kind enough to open his home for the remainder of the seminar but I got a call to pick up my duaghter in Rochester. Daddy duties called.

I hope there's another opportunity to pick these guy's brains.

Thanks
Due

You got that right!:) I'm on my way to Lakeside to stock up on 50 lb Big Game line. One thing that I was pleasantly supprised about is that the equipment that I bought last year, Shakespear Tiger Shark rods and Diawa Accudepth reels and the lures, are fine. I expected that I would hear that I have to start all over because I bought the wrong stuff. I am definitly going to stock up at the MOMC meeting on the 23rd.

I also headed over to perchguys house where the guys from MOMC were only to happy to sit with us rookies, and fill our brains with musky wisdom. They explained what i was doing wrong and ways to correct it. They explained lures, rods, and reels to use. They even let us in on some of the honey holes on LSC. I needed this seminar to help me understand all the basics. These guys could have cancelled once the rain came, but wanted to help us. I gained soooooooo much in just a couple of hours.

Thanks again guys and i will see ya at MOMC meeting on Wed.
