Raccoons in attic..

I know someone who has a problem with coons (or possums maybe) in their attic. Would it be best for me to set box traps outside their house, find a method to drive them from the attic, or both? Any ideas on driving coons or possums from an attic?

I doubt it would help but back in my stupid days a group of my buddies and I would bait them with bacon grease & a homemade trap like the one in the link below then 'dispose' of them in various methods. Yes, Im sure it was probably illegal, but like I said we were stupid. I think with two of the traps (the first one got dystroyed) we caught 30+ raccoons from the same location. Whatever you choose to do make sure that the attic get sealed up real good once they're out.

Moth Balls.

Spread moth balls in the attic and the critters will leave. Have used them on coons and squrrels and worked great.

Had a problem with a skunk once. Since these animals are nocturnal, I tried something and it worked. Every day when I left for work, I would turn on the radio as loud as possible, without bothering the neighbors. Couple days or so no more skunk.

Almost any wild animal causing damage can be disposed of, they can't by law be relocated.

We had a couple of racoons make their way into my moms attic. She bought a couple of have a heart traps and trapped them and the city came and took them. So now we have a red squirrel getting in the smallest hole. darn thing. anyhow she would bait the have a heart trap with apples, marshmallows etc.

IN her back yard she has caught possums, raccoons, skunks, cats and a ground hog. lol... she got pretty good at setting the trap. Now the city wont come out and take the animal anymore so she dosent set the trap, I dont think she likes the way I dispose of the animal.
