Does anybody have a link to a video of the awesome save Lidstrom made last night?

That man is incredible and in my opinion a shoe-in for the Norris award!

GO RED WINGS!

Oh come on here, Dont start dogging Dom just yet. You have to admit that he has stood on his head a few times!!

I will say he made 2 great saves last night..a good stop on a wrister, then a 2nd on the rebound he gave up from said wrister...

Seriously, he's a good goalie, as long as he stays between the pipes. He needs some help on puck handling. Specialy when someone like Grier is baring down on him.

Ive come to accept Dom for what he is. His style isnt exactly textbook...but he threw a shutout up in a big game..and im still hearing bashing. they scored none, nada, zip, zilch.

I only got to watch the first period... and apparently missed the Lindstrom save... but saw both goals by Samuelson.

What a save Nick made though... could have changed the game drasticly if that had gone in.

He is without a doubt....."The Swedish Yzerman". What are the odds of a franchise having at the same time, not just 1 top 5-6 all time NHL legend, but 2!?:):):)

When will the Dominator second guessing and criticizing ever stop?:dizzy::dizzy::dizzy: Oh my god people, grow a brain. He's 42 years old, he is what he is. And in case you have forgotten, let me remind you what he is. He is one of the greatest goaltenders in the history of the NHL. And (along with Roy) quite possibly thee best goaltender in my lifetime to this point.

6 Vezinas.
6 and 0 in playoff series as a Red Wing.
God, what else do I even have to say? The man has so many ridiculous accomplishments, I can't even think right now.
Olympic Gold Medalist.
Stanley Cup Champion
Made a mediocre Buffalo team in the 90's a perennial playoff threat cuz nowone, and I mean nowone ever wanted to play against his filthy ass.

Again, he's 42 years old and the guy has still got unbelievable loads of "IT". He played for what? 6 to 700,000 grand this year? When we signed him, Dedge and everybody else criticized the deal. I told you all then that this was a great deal, and I'm telling you again, don't critique Dom, don't worry about him, he's on it. Nowone is gonna tell him how to play goal. Nowone on this Earth is gonna change his ways. He does what he does, and he's one of the best at it. Sure, he'll make you hold your breathe sometimes, but he wins the big ones. He gave up a soft goal to start game 5, and from then on....Sorry sir, this door is closed. You might want to play in another arena, cuz tonight, the light don't work behind this goal. I once got to listen to Dom after a game (Shanny scored his 500th that day) against Colorado in 02. Roy skated up ice and challenged Dom. The teams got in a big scrap, and Dom got pissed. Man, he was hot. He slipped on a skate and fell and the potential scrap between him and Roy got broken up. Afterwards I heard him say (and this will go with me to my grave, I can still hear that goofy accent) "They bang into me, they make me upset, so, there was no more puck in net." We had just shut them out 2-0. And that's what it is with Dom. He's got that edge. No excuses. Puck changes direction, rebounds, breakaways, shots that seem to get by those mentally soft goaltenders like Cujo and Legace, Dom shuts the door. You might get 1 or 2 by him. But he has that aura. The "it". Did Cujo take us to the conference finals? Did Legace take us to the Conference finals? Please give it a rest about Dom.

If you guys want something to talk about, and/or criticize, take up Calder please. The guy was an adequate regular season player. But man, he blows. Why is he still in the lineup? I like coach alot, I really do. He's a great motivator and mentally tough. But this one lineup decision with Calder all the time, is the one that baffles me. Give me Hudler, Langfeld or Kopecky in that spot please. Kyle has a spot in the penalty box like Norm has a spot at the end of the "Cheers" bar.:dizzy::(

Ok, I agreed with everything up until the Calder comment. He may not have great numbers right now but he is a great asset to that line. Then new bearded grind line!!! LOL , I actually like Calder and think that it was a good move bringing him to Detroit!!

??? Calder isn't on the bearded Grind Line. The line recently referred to as the bearded Grind Line is the line of Drapes, Malts and Clears. Calder doesn't have any set linemates at this point in time. He's getting 4-6 shifts a game, and around 3-5 minutes of ice with various combinations. He's found success with none of them.:(

I didn't have a problem with signing Hasek in the off-season, and he's played great throughout the regular season and came at a great price. But he doesn't get any free passes when it comes to criticism. I don't get why people bring up his Vezinas and Harts that came 10 years ago. Are those Vezinas consoling Brodeur and Kipprusoff right now? I don't think so. Dom has allowed some downright AWFUL goals. Sure he has been lucky enough to got a win out of some of those games, but it's time to be good instead of lucky. If Anaheim scores two bad goals in the first ten minutes, don't expect them to let us tie it up and win, this isn't San Jose. Time for the Dominator to dominate, not just be "good enough".

fish eater,
I 'm not saying that Hasak is a terrible goalie. I think he's one of the best..."between the pipes", but my stomache turns everytime he plays the puck.
If Lidstrom wouldn't have saved his butt....and say... the wings lost the game.... you'd be on the band wagon too! ;)

No, I see what you guys are saying, and you both make good points. But, with that being said, I just hear a ton of criticism of Dom's play. From alot of fans on alot of media outlets. And I just don't agree with that opinion. IMO, Dom has been excellant. This is the 1st time we've reached the conference in 5 years. Hmm, who was the goaltender for the last trip 5 years ago.;) Dom has still got it. He can't play 70 regular season games like he used to to be eligible for the Vez, but in a best of 7 series the guy is still a Vezina caliber netminder. Isn't he like only 2nd to Giguere in post-season GAA? The guy has only surrendered 2 goals or less for 8 straight playoff games bros.:tdo12: That is excellant. With our D-men, and our forward core up front, that keeps us in great shape. Dom is unorthodox. No doubt. He always has been. But he gets it done. I don't know how, I don't give a crap, I just know that he keeps you in big games, and flat out gets it done. The guy has made big big stops for us in 2nd and 3rd periods this whole playoffs, and allowed us to overcome 2 goal deficits. And he's 2-0 in overtimes. I can't turn my nose up at stats like that. You know what I'm sayin. Sure, he has given up a couple soft ones, but he still bounces back as well. He never admits getting beat. Listening to him talk, he still doesn't ever think anyone ever got one by him on their own effort. He feels he should (or should have) make every stop. And that's the mentality of a stud, a champion. That's exactly the mentality of a netminder that we all want back there. Yzer had a mentality like that, Jordan, Roy, Bird, Isiah, guys like that always thought that way. Dom makes your whole team better. That confidence that oozes out of him. The guys in front of him just seem to get it. He's calm and cocky in the lockerroom, and it just seems to be contagious through the whole room. I've said it before and I'll say it time and time again. I don't know what the heck the "it" is, but whatever the "it" is, Dom has got alot of "it". Even at 42 years old, he still gives us a chance to win every night. I don't know much but I know this, he's the best damn goaltender I've ever seen in a Red Wing sweater in my 30 years on this Earth.:):chillin:

Except for the give away that Lidstrom had to save I think he did dominate in the last game.

So, now that you've got the right guys(s) figured out, would you agree that Kyle Calder is slower than smoke off poop?

Ya know, I was actually impressed with him in the few regular season games but now that I am thinking of it I have not heard his name much in the playoffs. Hmmm, I didn't even notice that!!

OK Fisheater, you called me out on the Dom deal so I am going to explain it again. The reason I was so against signing Dom was because of injury. Not because of lack of talent. Dom is one of the most skilled netminders in the game without a doubt. He just plain kicks butt. You talk about the last tender to take us to the conference back in 02. Well how many seasons did Dom complete since winning the cup? (and you can't count this one, becuase I didn't know that back when I was against it) There I said my peice about that.

Moving on. With all that being said, I agree with everything Fisheater said, with the exception of him picking on me. There are a lot of people criticizing Dom's style of play. Not that much on here, but a lot of analysts, and announcers, and hockey personalities. Really, it just plain cracks me up. If you believe all of the forementioned people, then Dom should be playing the lottery, because he has been getting extremely lucky for like 15 years or so. Yeah, he looks like a fish out of water sometimes, but he blocks the shots. In his own... peculiar... way. There is a method to his madness. Plus he is just plain exciting to watch.

One of the Detroit newspapers had an article on Dom that was titled, Crazy like Champion. And I think that pretty much sums him up. You don't even need to read the article. He is crazy like a champion.

OK, that is enough for now... (sarcasm on) until I am viciously attacked again.(sarcasm off):yikes::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Go Wings,

Dan
