I live in Taylor , and the only lakes close to me that i have fished are infested with pleasure boaters and PWCs. I love fishing but when me and my dad go out it is always super busy on the lakes we have fished ie whitmore, sand, belleville, wamplers. i was wondering if there is anyone who lives or has a place on a private lake that would give us permission to fish it. I have a great respect for the outdoors and would release everyting (except maybe some nice panfish once in a while). I just want to find a place we can go and be in a fishing atmosphere and not a racetrack. any place within 50 miles would be awesome. PM me if u want to help out . Thanks alot. Chris.

hey Chris.....just a couple of miles west of Walter J. Hayes (Wamplers) is Allens Lake. it is a small chain of lakes and you can get out of the crowds there. also, if it is possible, try fishing during the week. we fish the lakes around wamplers that you mentioned, and mostly on weekends. we still manage to catch fish, but it is alot more work.
Sand Lake is a great lake in the evening and at night. there are some really nice bass and walleye there. another thing we do is to get to the launch at Sand, Allens and Vineyard around 5 a.m. and plan on fishing until 10 or 11 a.m. and call it a trip, or go get some food and wait around and fish the late afternoon/evening times.
don't get too discouraged, remember....the fish deal with PWC's and the like ALL of the time, and are used to the commotion. just concentrate on fishing and try different tactics. also try downsizing baits and you will get a few more bites from fish that turn their noses at standard size baits.:fish:

Hey what about Kent lake? I'm pretty sure there is a no-go-fast policy.. In fact isnt the whole lake 10mph speed limit or something? Also, it does get a bit crowded in the park, but the only boats out there should be either rentals or fishing boats...
ALSO check any state parks around.. sometimes they make the lakes slow no wake or electric motors only.. there are a couple of them around here by me but I'm pretty sure we live more than 50 miles away..
Good luck!

Try Round Lake, the one connected to Wamplers. It is a no wake lake. Got a place on Round and there is some decent fishing. Or try Iron Lake, it is accessible from wamplers via jerrys channal, but can be very shallow in the swamp. :yikes: The ramp for Iron is off of Egan Hwy. less than 1/2 mile from US 12. BTW, Iron may have sime "happy traffic" but nothing so bad you cannot fish anyway.
Hope this helps! :):fish:

kent lake is a good option
Try some of the impoundments around Ann Arbor. Barton Pond is killer for big pike and walleye. You can't launch a big boat, but something small will work. NO PWC (Water Fleas)
