Any word on crome in the dam downtown alpena?

Jim, You might wanna give a call to Clem's Bait & Tackle right there at the bridge. 9th street dam is a fickle fishery this time of year.

We were in Oscoda last weekend and ran into a couple of guys that were on they're back from Alpena, reported they saw a lot of suckers but not much chrome. ;)

ya if u want some suckers give it a try!!!! there is some chromers but they are few and very far between! worst run I have ever seen here. i would go to the AS but i guess its still kinda slow there from what i hear. It might be worth a try.

Thanks for the up date guys.saved me about a$100. in gas,that sucks i like that fishery too.i grew up in hale mi. so i know all about crappy runs...i like to get back up there more often but gas at $3.15gal. i gotta plan trips wisly... again thanks for the feed back....

I did not save on gas $$. After fishing the Ausable with my daughter on Saturday, I ventured on to the Thunder Bay river to wade by myself Sunday. I fished in front of the floodgates for hours, and never had a Steelhead bite. Well, I may have had some bites, but nothing got hooked. I saw a few dark Steelhead roll, and there were some large Carp around, but the only nibbles I could get were from what I imagine were smolts. I ended up fishing from the 9th St Bridge for a bit, and landed a Sucker which probably was 25" long, and probably weighed close to 6 lbs. There were some MONSTER Carp down from the Bridge, and I got one to eat a spawnbag, but it let go before I could bury the hook. Overall I would say that the Steelhead run in Alpena is over. It was a nice day, but I drove for almost 3 hours to catch a Sucker. Guess that makes me a sucker :lol:

Hey without self proclaimed "sucker" the rest of us would drive for 4hrs. for carp.... but thanks fore the heads up on the dam fishndude, besides a day fish'n with the kid beats a day at work!!!!!!!!:coolgleam
