Ok guys what's the best bet right now? The Big M by the coffer, The Big Sable, The Muskegon, The Little Manistee? Will be in the area the whole week and looking for best suggestion to catch some browns or brookies. Bear Creek, The White (main or North branch), Pere Marquette? I'm not out to catch an Skamania (sp) just to have some fun with some browns/brookies.

Steve, the muskegon has been kinda spotty. Did well on on a woolybugger on monday afternoon. And then later in the day,a elk hair caddis was good. I've been to busy to fish a lot this year. I think the new Regs might be helping a little bit.If all else fails a small chunk of crawler on a #8 long shank will catch fish.Parsleys Sport shop is the place to get all the info you need.Ask for Bob.
Have you ever tried the pine river?

Erik, I have tried that river, and what a beautiful river it is, but I found the access very limited and difficult (walking up and down 60 degree banks). I so no signs of life the time I went, no risers, no strikes, no other fishmen with any luck. I went in off the national forest northwest of the intersection of 55 and 37. Don't know if this is the best area. Is it better further upstream?

What about the White, I am thinking specifically about the north branch on which I've never been. Anybody been out there this year?

Steve, I have Tuesday and Wed. off (1st and 2nd) and I plan on hitting that area. If you want to give salmon a try let me know! I have a good feeling that I can get a few hookups on the old flyrod.
I also know the Pine pretty well. The problem with that river is that it doesn't take much rain to blow it out! In fact I plan on trying it every time I visit that side of the state but I have only been able to fish it with good water conditions One time in the past two years!
Anyway Next week officially starts Salmon mania in my group until Duck season opens!! But I always try for browns during the mid day,(If I can stay awake!)
Steve, besides being one of MI most scenic rivers, the Pine is also a first class trout stream. I have no intention of posting access points on the internet. I'll just say this, "get a map". One very helpful point too, go early in the morning or late in the eve. You'll avoid most of the canoers and tubers that way.

Eric those points shouldn't be given out here and WEEZER I am definitely interested in fishing with you wherever you think would be best to go in that area. Would probably have to be on Tuesday. Wednesday I want to rest up for a charter trip that I am taking on the big lake. If you know where Salmon are lets do it but I am happy to fish for browns. We could probably get some good pictures for the site. Email me if you want to meet at some access point.
