This is getting frustrating. They look better, good pace to the game. Now if the friggen refs would call a fair game maybe we wouldn't have to spend half a period short handed:rant:

Way to fight back and win boys! Holmstrom got a nice welcome back but he went to the dressing early in OT and never came back out. :(
How about Guerin taking that slapper off his face! :yikes:

Bertuzzi was making me crazy overskating the puck tonight.

Back to the Joe we go.

WOOOHOOOO, glad I didnt fall asleep.

Dom, Lang/Flip, and Homer heroes of the game and thanks Shneids for ending it.

I put on my '02 Hasek hat tonite that I've worn for 3 important playoff games this year and I left it on when I went to lay down in bed at the end of the 3rd period......Wings are undefeated in those 3 games.

3 hours till I gotta get up for work, but I feel worse for the Suckas that went to bed.

.

Me to bro. Glad I'm not the only one getting sick of it. He does the same thing every time. Corral the puck, take the defender wide, cut hard into the right wing corner, lose the puck in his feet, and back comes the play the other way.:( Argh. Bert, dude, you better start showing us something more. The aggresion is nice, hey I'm all for throwing the body around, but the past couple games, he's taken it a little far. The puck will be close by, or in a position where he could gain possession and maybe set up a scoring chance, and instead he's colliding with a teammate, or throwing an elbow into somebody's face.:dizzy:

Big win tonight! Freakin huge! Hope Homer is ok, we have to have him! Big game Saturday. I'm holding out hope that Lebda is able to go on Sat. Another fresh body can't hurt. And for the love of God Coach, get Hudler back in there, and sit Calder! Kyle is stank! What'd he have tonight? 3, 4 shifts? He's horrid. Or ya know what? If Hudler is to small for SJ and no good, then give me Langfeld or Kopecky over Calder. Calder is a set of empty boots right now.

I was soooo close to calling it quits and going to bed in the third. I woulda been pissed if I missed that nail biter!

Langer really came through for us on that one boys!!

Now...how to watch the game while in Traverse "wine tasting" this weekend...:rolleyes:. There must be a way!

Langs goal was beautiful. Can't remember the last time I saw him put one in the net.

Ditto on Big Bert...takes it behind the net, loses it in his feet and then back to the other side. He did that like 3 times. Looked like a replay over and over...

Have you ever seen Zetterberg lose the puck so many times? Maybe it was me.

When I went to bed the other night and they were ahead, and then I woke up at 12:30 for whatever reason curiousity got the best of me and I went out to see the sports ticker but the game was still on and SJ scored to go ahead. I just figured it was me!!!

Man, I just could not stay up. Barely made it to the second period. I figured at 2-0, it was safe to fall asleep. Oooops!
Oh well, the only thing that matters is that they won the game.

Way to go Wings!!!! Too bad the cable in Mason does not have Versus.
How stupid is the NHL to have playoff games that cannot be seen by the entire contry. Bettman is a moron:rant: We had to go to my wife's school and watch game 1 in the teachers lounge. Was not going to do that for this late game. Anyway, what a come back!! Hope that takes some zip out of the Sharks. Any word on Lebda coming back. Could use his speed. Go WINGS

What a freaking awesome game. I can't believe that they won that game, despite the ref's best efforts. Heck of a game last night though. Totally worth the 4 hours of sleep I got last night.

I know Bert was out for most of the year this year, but he doesn't in any way shape or form resemble the Bertuzzi, that I remember watching in Vancouver.

Way to go Wings!

I called it a little backwards,, when it was 2-1 I thought to myself that SJ would take a stupid penalty late in the 3rd and Sneids would tie and someone else would win it in OT,, anyway a win is a win. The game itself though,,, I couldn't believe all the announcers saying Detroit DOMINATED that game:dizzy: ,, I saw them look good in stretches on the powerplay but other than that,, I saw SJ just sitting back and trying to protect a lead. Anyone notice how many times SJ just "took the puck away",, from any Wing trying to stick-handle?? As soon as they started dumping the puck they looked better. Best case scenario for Detroit is to be down a goal or two and limit Thorton's ice time,, for some reason Wilson doesn't like him out there as much for a defensive role.

I fell asleep!!! Last I remember there was under 5 minutes to go in the third. I closed my eyes thinking, "I'll just listen to see if they score". Next thing I knew it was 6:00 am. I flipped on ESPN and caught the highlights.
GREAT GAME! From what I saw it was pretty even throughout, but the Wings definitely were skating better and taking better care of the puck!
See ya Saturday at 2:00!

Yes, Hank turned it over alot! He was awful last night, and he's (IMO) had a horrible series against SJ. Him and Pavel are to easy to defend. Push them over, take puck, repeat.:dizzy: Why is Bert not on that line Coach? Why? The only time the Euro-twins generated anything, was game 2 with Bert on their line. So what does Babs do? He plays Sammie on their line in game 3. Then, when Homer goes down in the OT, who does Coach play with them? Flip. Don't get me wrong. I love me some Flip. But he's young. He's a puppy in his first ever NHL playoffs. He's another 185 pounder that needs a couple years to put on a few more pounds and broaden them shoulders up. Everybody talked about how Bert opened up space for the Euro-twins in game 2, and they each had a goal in that game. So......Bert hasn't played with them 2 since??? Again, why? Honestly, IMO, I would like to see those 2 split up. Their both small, and they get smoked out there together. I would prefer to see 1 of them in between big bodies. We got Homer, Mule, Bert, Lang, and Sammie. Sammie is on my feces list, but he is still a 212 pound winger. Put on of them (Dats) in between Sammie and Bert, and put the other one (Hank) in between Homer and Mule. Maybe they wouldn't get clobbered as easily.

Oh, and I've been kind of fond of this guy ever since we drafted him, but after this playoff season so far, I absolutely love Mule. Yeah he makes some mistakes, everybody does. Hockey is a game of mistakes. But I love Mules game. He's Homer, but only with better footwork and a better skater. From everything I've observed, Mule is a playoff hockey player. And he's only gonna get better with experience. We gotta lock this kid up.

Mule = Franzen? For some reason I haven't heard that nickname yet.

Jigawhat
05-03-2007, 10:43 AM
agree, fish. The Mule is fun to watch and we need to lock em up for sure!

I fell asleep, just like Joe Archer. Down 2-0, hmmm... 'I'll just close my eyes for a second and listen' woke up at 4am with the tv still on. ah well.

I was bashing Lang all game as well. On the phone with my brother in Maryland, he and I were giving it to him good. Then he's scores to tie it. :o Although, I'm pretty sure he was on the ice when SJ got their first goal.
If there is one thing I can give him credit for, it's getting into the right spot at the right time. And thats not saying much. I'd like to see him work harder for loose pucks, back-check and throw some weight around, but thats just not gonna happen. Thats why after this year will be the last time he wears the winged-wheel and the last time he even gets close to making the money he is is now. (after that rant, we ride him to the Cup and he wins the Con smythe  )

any news on Homer yet? man, I hope he is alright. Kudos to all on this thread (and the other) that called him getting a goal his first game back. I felt strongly he would, but when I talk things seem to get jinxed. :D

Who's the Mule??? I'm lost on that one too!

I was glad I toughed it out last night. In game three I went to bed at the end of the second and didn't miss a darned thing. Last night was almost the same story, down 2-1 in the third and I couldn't bear to watch another loss. Too depressing. But something kept me there.

Then Babcock pulls Hasek with a minute and something left and I thought "Here it comes...a turn-over and an empty netter from the neutral zone. Bet my bottom dollar". Then all of a sudden "BAM" Langer fires a rocket and scores with 33 seconds left!!! Nothing can pull me away now!

Thinking this could go into quadruple OT, I considered popping a Red Bull but my excitement was self sustaining! Nothing needed here, this is GOOD HOCKEY! Then 16:04 into the OT Schneider fires one in!!! I LOVE IT!!

Haven't slept that well in weeks!

Maybe just camera angle, but it looks decisive. Also, can you imagine the officials at the Shark Tank calling it a goal if there was any doubt....?

Yes, the Mule is (say his real name with a heavy European accent, kinda like the Hans and Frans accent from Saturday Night Live).............Johan Franzen.:D Sounds good when you say it out loud doesn't it? I love me some Mule. He's in his 2nd season and he was what? A 4th round pick? We gotta find a couple more mule's. Sandpaper I tell ya. Sandpaper. It's never easy to play against the sandpaper guys like Mule. And that's not exactly a new nickname. He's been called The Mule ever since his 1st training camp with the Red Wings in Sept of 05. Thee Captain, Drapes and Malts gave him that nickname. Stevie said he plays like a Mule. You can't move him, and hard to knock off his feet.

And yes, Schneider's goal was legit. In and out quickly, but it rang up under that bottle. Nabby didn't even know it went in the net, it shot back out quick. But a goal's a goal. Break that Plate!:D

What do you think is going through the collective minds of the San Jose Sharks? After blowing 2-2 goal leads and losing them both in the waning moments. 2 games 4 days apart. And then, Ron Wilson chastizing and publicly calling out an entire line (Guerin, Rissmiller, Marleau) at this mornings press conference. Do those comments seem good for a locker room, or bad for it?

Oh, and before I forget. Ok, so I had the Sharks in 5. I still say Sharks in 6. To hell with the hockey gods! They can't control squat! I know for an absolute FACT, that there is no way that the Detroit Red Wings will win 2 more games in this series. That is absolutely inconceivable! Buzz off hockey gods! How do you like them apples!?:cheeky-sm

Only time will tell,,, I think it's Wilson's fault though. Goalie pulled, game 4, 2-1 game lead,, 2-1 series lead and your own players don't know enough not to cheat for the empty netter???? :dizzy: I also didn't see Thorton get double shifted one time last night, as to where the game before he was out there every other shift.:dizzy: SJ will come out Sat. with fire in their eyes and flat out HAMMERING anyone that touches the puck only problem is,,,,,,,, the "mo" has switched. Yeah, no injury to worry about for Homer. He actually broke the skate blade on the boot. How the hell he managed that, we don't know.:dizzy::lol: It was taking awhile to get him undressed and get some new skates on him. If there would've been a 2nd OT, he would've been there for it.
