Okay,

So I floated two parts of the Rifle with my Dad on Sat. It was a scouting new water/ shake down/ enjoy family time sort of deal. We did run across one nice steelie that ate a worm, but spit the hook before being landed. Dad landed a brown and a rainbow on some spinners I made this winter. I landed one 16" rainbow that tasted great on a Berkley Frenzy something and lost another roughly equal sized brown on the same kind of lure. We had a great time accomplishing all three goals.

On the shake down side: the boat transported well on the new rack DryFly Dave made for my mini van, the boat took three log jams head on and won, and we did one portage with no problems.

Scouting wise- Peters Rd to Klacking Creek was a short float but we fished a lot and made it a three hour gig. Kenneth Rd to Greenwood Rd was several hours, again probably because we stopped to fish frequently. The water was dirty- about 1-2' visibility- and the sun was bright, we found we either had to drift/float big bait, or toss the bigger lures to get the fish to pay attention.

Spending time with my Dad was the biggest treat of all. We had a lot of fun and got to places that he just would not have been able to go without the boat. Thanks to Dave, I think I've got the perfect vehicle for my kind of fishing. Next trip will either be on the Titt or maybe back up on the Rifle depending on when Dad and I can get free.

Well, I hope everyone else had fun, take care and good luck.

Sounds like a great float. How was the traffic. Any other people floating or fishing?
