Well we finally got a sunny day up here in T.C. I am going down to the ladder here and see if I cant get some of the ice & snow off the walkway. ( I saw 3 people fall into the river last year from the boardwalk).
There was one boat off the river mouth this morning. The mouth of the river is open into West Bay. I will post updates if I hear anything, or when I start going out myself.

Update-
The last 2 days have been 45 degrees or higher, with no end in warmth predicted yet. The Boardman in on the very dirty side. I spent about 1 1/2 hours fishing yesterday with no takes. Another fisherman said he took a 6lb male Mon. It is just starting to rain here. The river level is probably 1-2 FEET below normal.
There were 8 boats of the river mouth and 3 folks in waders. I will try to get a report from them on the way in if I can.
Good luck all,

Better news to report. Warmth and rain has reduced the snow cover to nothing. The river is up about 12-14" since last report. There is just a little color to the water. I didn't fish myself, but saw 2 others with fish. I spotted a pair of males (4-5lbs) with a nice hen (9-10lbs). Boats are still trolling off the mouth and in the hole west of the mouth.
Haven't heard anybody say they were taknig fish out there. Time to start checking your favorite streams. I have heard other successful reports from around the bays.

Any reports from the Boardman? I'll be up in T.C. this week-end doing some fish..... I mean visting the wifes family. I may head down to Tippy if nothing is going on at the Boardman. This will be the first time fishing the river, any suggestions?

Went to the Bpardman yesterday for my first time and what an experience. Seen lots of fish, it was the first time I did some sight fishing for steelies. Had three on and landed two and one big buck took me for a nice ride, he had me hung up on a log and I thought I lost him when I went up river to a bridge to get across to the other side to see if I could get out of the mess I pulled the hook off the log and to my surprise the fish was still on. Had a great time and learned a new way to fish for steelies, what was really interesting was very few people on the river we had a big stretch all to or selves. Hopefully I'll get a chance to get back up their next week-end. We were floating small jgs tipped with wax worms and didn't get anything then we used hot n tots and fished them in front of the fish and just let them work at them until they hit. I was the hardest day of fishing I ever did. We left Friday night at midnight, got their about 4:30 slept for about an hour and a half, fished to 7pm and back on the road at 8, finally getting home at 1am, long hard day but it was worth it.

Just remember. The Boardman is only open up to the fish ladder/dam at Union St. There have been more and more people going upstream the past few years. IT IS CLOSED ABOVE UNION DAM. The CO's patroled quite a bit last year, and I hope they do this year too. Remember to get your new licenses!

No update as I am curently in SW Florida. Not back til the 4th. I did pick up a new trout regs. packet before leaving and it seems that my above post may be incorrect as of the new fishing year. Looks like he upstream limit is now Sabin Dam. I will have to chack into exact detail, as I was told by a CO that the upstream limit would stay the same. The book shows otherwise. The upper streach has always opened early, but now it looks like it is year round!

Fished the north branch today. The fishing really picked up towards evening.Lots of little brookies and only one keeper today.I missed a really big brookie,he ran me up stream three times and wouldnt tire.I was on the banks and couldnt get down fast enough with the net.i use barbless hooks so when he got enough slack he was history.I'll be back this week after work to face him again.
