Drew Stanton. 4/28/2007.
"Oh what could have been"

I watched you in High School and in College. Much to young for it all to be over.

He's really just going from one quality football program to another. What's the big deal?

What I wold give to have heard what was going through his head at that point in time. I imagine it something like this:

Okay, Lions pick, it'd be cool to stay in the state, but its the lions, oh crap, it's the Lions! Oh man if they pick me my future in football is shot, good thing I graduated, but then again why would they pick a qb like me when they really need a championship winner not some second rounder like me, I mean I couldnt even get us to a bowl game last the last three years plus I was injured for part of the season each of those three...okay here they come, please don't pick me, please don't pick me, please don't pick me, please don't pick me...CRAP! We'll ma' guess I'm not moving out anytime soon!

If you think Stanton was nervous, after the first pick they were all sweaten bullets. The Lions really suprised me though. Thought for sure they were going after the point after touchdown holder out of Montana State Rodeo Academy. They sure fooled me. That would be one sweet job to hold the ball 4 or 5 times in 16 weeks.

From what i understand they were all set to to take guy out of MSRA. But he told Millen that if he was drafted by the loins that he would stay at MSRA and clean up the horse crap!!! Better the clean up horse crap than to play for a horse crap team!!!

It didn't surprise me that they drafted Stanton. After all, he suppossedly was terrible during his pro day workouts. Fits right in. They were showing film clips of his workout, and he couldn't hit a 10 crossing pattern. The good news though, now they traded both McCown, and M. Williams, that moves Dan Orlovsky to #2 on the depth chart at QB.
