Anyone hitting Hubbard for the opener. Fish it a lot in the summer, but never this early. Might be less crowded than the big lake. Anyone ever try this early for walleye up there?? Hints??

I'll be out there. Can be hit or miss. But it's always a nice lake to be out on.

i would jigs and maybe some bobber fishing, anything slow. the south end and east side are always good bets early as they tend to spawn up the sucker or on the east shoreline. pike fishing in holcumb creek and the west branch river should be good, as well as the south west side just north of the river mouth.

Ended up going down to Bolles Harbor this morning. Caught some nice fish. Heading up to the cabin in Greenbush next weekend for sure (if the weather cooperates). Probably hit Hubbard then.

Fished both in the morning and the evening and no hits. Only seen one other boat on the lake last night (after dark). Heard that there was a number of boats down by the tubes yesterday morning, but no clue if anyone was catching.

Is that public access there? If so where? My aunt has a cottage up on the North end that I have access to but no boat.

I believe that was the area we drove our vehicles onto the ice at one of the M-S outings we had there. Lots of fun then, not too many fish but a couple of those HUGE Perch make it very worth while ! :D
