Since my fishing partner was saddled with "Honey Dos" Sunday afternoon I gave our usual spot a rest and drove over to a lake I hadn't fished in at least 12 years.
As the old saying goes, "The more things change, the more they remain the same".
The big gills were right where they always have been on a sunny afternoon ---2 fow over muck bottom in front of a small feeder creek.
As fast as the 10 foot noodle rod with 2# line, small ice fishing slip bobber and tiny jig with a wax worm could hit the water, the small bobber would take off gliding across the surface indicating that another gill had engulfed the jig.
Easily caught over 100 gills and kept an even dozen 9 inches and plus to take home, all while standing in a foot of marshy water near the creek mouth.
Who says you can't find good shore fishing anymore ?
