Granderson pops out. Walk to Polanco. Infante pops up. Ordonez at the plate with two on and two out.
Come on already... someone hit one deep enough off the wall to score Inge.
You will very rarely here me say this...but that was a horrible decision by leyland to let Granderson swing instead of bunt. Either way Polanco is getting walked. When Your offense has been struggling, ,you need to play small ball in that spot. I know leyland is a great manager, and unconventional at times...but that stunk. Bunt, fly ball, game over. lets hope we pull it out.

I agree that a bunt woulda been solid there, but Granderson can't bunt. He worked on it in spring but hasn't had a chance to do it in a game let alone a huge game like that.
Why Granderson doesn't bunt and why he doesn't use him to steal bases/hit and run is beyond me(esp. with Polanco aka an amazing contact hitter behind him)

If I was Mr. Illitch, I'd call Polanco into my office, tear up his contract, and write him a new one worth much more than he's making now. Simply the best contact hitter in the game. When he's at bat the ball is getting hit somewhere, period.

Steve, I agree! He's a pretty doggone good 2nd baseman too. They need to wrap him up with a long, long term contract.

The Tigers are so much better than coming close to getting swept bt Chicago. They had so many chances to win the 1st 3. It was awesome to watch them win yesterday, and it shouldnt have even went that many innings.

I agree he is good on both sides of the ball, but we have him signed through 2009 and he is already 31 years old...not to mention he has somewhat of a history of injury. We'll let him play out his contract and see where the team is after that. Judging from all the contracts we have it looks like our window to win the World Series will be for the next two or three years, and then probably a rebuilding a phase after that.

One of the worst coaching/manager decisions I've seen all year. Leyland should've had Dumbrowski up his butt after the game.
If Granderson can't bunt you pull him for someone who can. We still had guys on the bench. And after that you can even bunt again if you don't trust the guy batting to make contact or if the infield doesn't play in. Statistics will tell you that when you get a lead off double the guy scores over 80% of the time if teams play small ball and focus only on getting that guy home.
