I was at game one the other night and was surprised to see so many empty seats. I guess they didn't sell out yesterday either. Is it waning interest in hockey, over priced tickets, competition with the tigers and pistons, or just bad economic times? It's tough to label yourself Hockeytown when you can't sellout playoff games.

Yes, I believe it is all of the above. Plus the fact that they kind of jacked over the season ticket holders.

I was wondering if they were corporate seats that companys arent buying anymore because of the economy., We had a luxury suite their for years but got rid of it a couple yrs ago.

Hockey is definetly not what it was even 5 yrs ago around here, I remember going to the store before a Sat. or Sun. game for snacks and there would be Wing flags on cars and a bunch of people in the store all decked out in Wing gear.

I think too that the Pistons and Tigers doing good lately is really hurting them. Hopefully a long run in the playoffs will help it rebound.

I was there yesterday and there were empty seats, but not as many as I thought there might be. Mostly high and behind the goals. Considering there were Tigers and Pistons games and AMA at Ford Field, I thought it was a pretty good sized crowd.

Alsmost as exciting in the stands as on the ice at the end of the third period. Too many Calgary and Wings fans with too much to drink, created for some entertainment off the ice.

I'm guessing it's the economy and the Tigers and Pistons doing well that have the sales off for the Wings. Corporate Michigan's cutting back spending.

I have been to years past playoff games and thought the same thing. But I know that if I were a season ticket holder I would be all honked off the way they are screwed. Anyone got any free tickets I can have???? ;)

...the playoffs were a bit shorter....?
I love hockey, but almost TWO MONTHS of playoffs seems way long. If I remember, the Stanley cup format was constructed when there were about half of the number of teams there are today, but now IMHO, there are WAY too many teams involved: If there were fewer teams and even one round of playoffs were eliminated, I bet attendance per game would go up. Just a thought....
